National News Sir Keir Starmer

I see Rosie Duffield MP has resigned the Labour whip citing Free Gear Starmers hypocrisy in taking payments whilst withdrawing fuel help for the elderly and help for those who have more than two children.
There are a lot of independent MPs now. Jeremy Corbyn won’t stay quiet much longer. Quite a rebellion going on.
The ‘working people’ who Starmer etc says they will look after might raise a few concerns when fuel and alcohol duties rise along with ,any other taxes.
October budget will cause some grief that’s for sure.

If they ditch going after non-doms (which they promised would raise lots of cash) and at the same time start introducing things like pay by mile road tax I think you could see a lot more defectors

A situation like this is not really a surprise after Labour said they wanted to be different, but it has certainly come along quickly.

However, whether you agree or disagree with these donations, they do not cost the tax payer anything, but it is certainly a question of morality.

You do this sort of thing in the face of justifying very hard decisions that impact normal people and you will get pummeled.

As for the WFA, this is right, just too rushed and ill thought out at this point.

As for payments for those with more than 2 children. No, you manage the size of your family commensurate to the size of your household budget. Children are expensive and most people make appropriate decisions about how many children they can afford to bring up.

The only way to raise appropriate level of taxes to support the countries needs is to tax the majority (the working people). By all means hit the wealthier harder but it isn't going to raise enough. This looking out for "working people" is a red herring.

The WFA was rushed through and ill thought out. I am sure they haven’t come up with a vote winner there especially if reports of a hard winter are to be believed.
I agree that children are expensive and others should not be expected to pay for them.
The term working people seems to me to be those that pay their union fees to enable disruption to get their own way on pay and conditions.
Going after the rich might well result in less revenues if they migrate. Nice idea in principle.
Good to see Rosie Duffield make a stand. I only wish others would do the same instead of surrendering to the idea of pressure from the leadership. Labour called out Tories who did it…now the boot is on the other foot.
They have proved they are no different to the Tories, and merely serve themselves. Those who voted for change have got more of the same.

but it is certainly a question of morality.
They’re nothing short of bribes, there may be no immediate expectation of something in return, but at some point these people shelling out hundreds of thousands, if not millions, will want a sympathetic ear to their ‘problems’. That very easily then turns to influencing policy once the MP(s) in question realise the gravy train might stop.

Giving to a political party I’m at ease with, it’s one step removed, giving things to an individual MP, especially the monetary value that has been mentioned is wrong. What does make it more jarring for Labor is that they claimed to be different. We all knew many Conservatives had their noses in the trough.

We can also all say that the rules are wrong, but that it’s within the rules, but to change those, the turkeys would all have to vote for Christmas.

I think we certainly deserve better from a Moral stand point.

As for actual decisions on the issues that face UK Plc, October will be interesting.

But time is needed to see how things work out.

Without question.
Everyone knew the Tories were in it for themselves. They made no secret of that. Labour pretended to be different and reiterated they were the party that stands up for morality and decency. Not much of that here. The WASPI women expected better as an independent tribunal ruled in their favour but again nothing will happen.
The postmaster scandal hasn’t moved forward. Then elected because of a strong wave of dissent against the Conservatives they promptly take the winter fuel allowance away as it’s an easy target for £1.4 billion to be raised. The fact they paid off the train drivers and had the money available for green issues must have raised a few eyebrows.
There appears to be increasing dissent with a government determined to force legislation through even though it’s not mentioned in their manifesto. Woe betide any opposition from Labour MPs as they will face a clampdown from a colourless knight of the realm…I would say clueless…but I think he’s dangerous and appears unstoppable.

We are politically in a very dark place at the moment.
The collapse of this latest shambles of a party would leave this country and its political system in rags.
We are Great Britain no more and the sooner we start to recognise that we are not able to throw billions of pounds of taxpayers money around to foreign and domestic folly, the sooner we can start the monstrous job of restoring our shattered country.

Couldn’t agree more. The political system needs fixing. PR would be better representative than what is now effectively a political dictatorship where the ruling party can pass policy at their whim.
Unfortunately we also have the Liberal Democrat’s who somehow managed to get 73 MPs who will no doubt be the new home of defecting Labour MPs fed up with Starmer, Reeves, Rayner and Lammy.
As mentioned we don’t have billions to spend abroad and at home on needless projects. Housing has impossible demands with numbers, as does education. Too many people and too many cars

The rules on declaring gifts is crazy! Government ministers are the only MPs that don't have to declare them! So the actual people who hold the reins of power can be bribed in complete secrecy!

If all MPs who held ministerial office over the past 14 years who are calling Starmer out can now make retrospective declarations we can see exactly how bad Starmer is.

I see Jenrick has received four payments of £25000 each.
Politicians are not to be trusted at all it would seem

Probably from Richard Desmond still paying for that help over the planning issue in Tower Hamlets. Although ‘brown envelope Bob’ was naturally cleared by Parliamentary Standards, of course he was…

Millibars is dangerous and Cooper is a good depressant
They all seem to sing from fhe same hymn sheet

Yeah but..... Israel, Hezbollah and all that.......

And your gas & electric go up 10% today.

As Rosie Duffield said............... "Sir Keir Starmer’s team cares "more about greed and power than making a difference"

One wonders if those who voted for "Change" are feeling a bit......... short changed. :)

Probably.

A bit like those that voted for Brexit and expecting all our European visitors to be on a boat leaving UK the day after :ROFLMAO:

No change here though, just business as usual, as expected.

Give them time though. It's only fair.
