I've woken up every morning and checked the OM website hoping to see a "Merry Christmas everyone, I've bought the stadium" or "January's going to be good" or "Kassam can go fk himself, I'm builidng a new stadium at...." but since all of this nothingness it's like the shittiest advent calendar I've ever had, other than those paper ones with no chocolate in them.

Anyone else doing/feeling the same?

The litmus test will be the January transfer window. The stadium situation was never going to be sorted out in the short term. It would be be nice to get a heads up on the direction of travel though.

When Tiger first revealed that ‘the owner of Inter Milan was joining the board’ I admit I did get excited. Now THAT was interesting, there’s no way a big player like that was getting on board unless something significant was happening. THAT was the time when I used to get up each morning in time for the early sports bulletins and checked the website. I couldn’t wait for the big announcement followed swiftly by the press conference, for the unveiling of Erick Thohir, where the plans and strategy - the reason he was at Oxford - would be revealed. What did we get when it finally happened? A little one liner that he has joined the board and then nothing...

That was the moment, deep down in my gut, when I felt it was time to stop getting excited.

I know it’s a chicken before the egg situation, but I don’t think Thohir will put his hand in his pocket until the team position improves

I think that once things really get going we'll all be pleasantly surprised. All of these monied members of the board, Thohir as the biggest hitter of all, will be there to finance things to their own later benefit when something concrete comes along. There's no point in coming out and saying "Erick's going to finance a new stadium in XYZ" before it is absolutely watertight, can you imagine the fees clubs are going to start demanding for players in that case, for example?

Ok so since he’s joined the board we’ve had one Instagram post about him joining and then about ten posts for other clubs from Indonesia, and Inter. Not one celebrating our last minute equalisers against Doncaster or Peterborough.

But you don’t become a club director with no involvement.

What’s going on ?

[edit : several anti racism posts too ,
But nothing about OUFC]

There will probably soon be a small announcement, tucked away in a dark corner of the website, saying that he’s left for pastures new and thanking him for his invaluable involvement and assistance etc etc. I think it will go down as one of those ‘what the f#ck was all that about..?’ moments in the history of our football club.

Over the years we have gone through directors like (insert witty and relevant metaphor here as I am crap at them), most of them quickly and leaving no trace of what they actually did. With you on this one, with the exception that we probably won’t get told he has left.

Realistically, hes someone Tiger might speak to for advice. In terms of him putting cash on the table, id say that is not what his "involvement" is about.

Hopefully there should be an announcement soon. Fingers crossed he’s bought us.
