Current Player Thread Simon Eastwood

Only just noticed Easty made the bench at the weekend. So we've chosen to register him in the 25 man squad this season then? Does anyone have a full list?
I think you can play anyone when the Transfer Window is open.
Just in case you sold a player, you wouldn't be limited in bringing another player in.

Yeah, you still have to add players into a 25-man squad, but this can be chopped and changed as many times as you want in a window, so long as you register before the deadline of each game.

I think Knightbridge is under 21, so we'd only need to register one of Eastwood or Ingram, which I expect will be Ingram

I think the squad has to be 25 players in L1 (please correct me if I am wrong) - and I haven't seen what the rules are about younger players counting towards that limit (again, confirmation would be useful).

We don't need 4 keepers in a squad that size, so you'd think Knightsbridge might be out on loan again.

Seems odd considering FFP constraints. If was our only GK coach then would make sense. I'd also expect our 3rd choice to be a young player.
It would be more expensive to sign a separate assistant GK coach and a training keeper to be honest.

Clubs having a third-choice keeper who’s used mainly for training and support is becoming a more common thing, and if we want to have a pipeline of keepers coming through what with the U21 setup playing more matches, then I’d say it’s a positive move for the club to have that extra coach in Easty

Goalkeepers aren't included in the squad cap in League One

Knightbridge no longer our man. On the recent released list

Thx. Even easier then.

Stick with Cumming / Ingram / Eastwood, with the latter in a player/coach capacity. It isn't broken and so doesn't need fixing. Concentrate resources on the bits that do!

Squad limit is 22 players but as Boris says, goalkeepers don't count towards the limit. Under 21s also don't count (including loan players)

Hopefully this is not the first piece of a puzzle which will ultimately see Vaulks and Harris starting for us, come August.

I will absolutely hit the roof if that happens.
I wouldn't have any issue with Vaulks starting for us in league 1.

Two players who played starring roles for their teams when winning promotion last time they played at this level?

Nor would I, he brings a calmness. We had a good shape to our play when he was playing in the Championship.
Disagree on both points unfortunately. If he received the ball under pressure in the middle his first move is almost always to play it backwards, often without looking. That's when he wasn't hiding between the centre backs to avoid any pressure in possession, even if it meant leaving Brannagan on his own in the middle knackering our shape. It's no coincidence that Brannagan's form improved greatly when he had Konak next to him taking a bit of responsibility.

Great bloke but we're almost always worse when he's on. Perhaps he'll be much more comfortable in League One, he was good in what was essentially a friendly against a crap Sheffield Wednesday and when he came on against 10 man Pompey, but he wasn't up to The Championship.

The only problem I would have with paying Vaulks (and some of the other current players as well) as first choice is that I would hope we are at least aiming to put a side/squad together that is somewhat more 'Championship ready' than we (obviously) were when we went up. I am sure he'd do a decent job but he wasn't a fixture in the championship starting XI - and won't be when we go back up (this year or next).

I think many people are judging players of not being good enough on how they preformed in the Championship which is fair enough but, League 1 is a different standard all together and players such as Vaulks and Helik, who looked average in the Championship, should really stand out in league 1.
