Ex Player Sam Winnall

Pleased with him. And all of our business this summer to be fair.

We'll take a little while to (magic cliche word) gel but once we do I've got a lot of faith in this year.

A striker with championship pedigree, looks like he could be a real coup. Sounds like he might need a few weeks to get back up to speed but with the constant Tuesday/Saturday fixtures, he’ll get plenty of opportunity to shine

Welcome Sam - remember you scoring against us for Barnsley thinking .."we do with him in our side".

so we’re not signing Leon Clarke?

looks a strong selection up front now.
and good it’s a permanent signing

Fantastic signing., Top league 1 striker. KR was true to his word. Now if we can pick up a top Winger to supply Taylor / Winnall

Not popular with the Barnsley fans for the way he went about leaving. Most agree he is a good player, but they rightly point out that he's not played regularly for a few years. To be fair, if he had then he probably wouldn't be at Oxford! The reason this works so well is that we only play one up. Him and Taylor will rotate like Taylor and Mackie did last year. Vital as we have 2 games oer week for alot of the seson.

Should get a better goal return than Mackie too. Can he do s***housery though?

How are we managing to bring in players like WInnall with the new salary cap? We must be pushing it very tight?

Not really, with the average being applied to most of our players under contract, all clubs at the time the cap was announced still had quite a bit left to play with.

It'll really become a squeeze over the next couple of years as existing contracts start to run out. Hence why promotion will be a big deal this year.

The young players like Lofthouse will become more and more important as back up players.

Looks like an excellent signing - will reserve judgement until I've actually seen him play though.

Does anyone know how fit/injured/match ready he might be? Has he been training with anyone (I know that's been difficult over the last few months!)?
