Safe standing

If the long term plans are a new stadium, I can't see us spending more money on a stadium that isn't ours and we won't be staying at.

We were promised "OxRails" in the East Stand, top 10 rows all having the rails in front at one point, which ended up being just 1 row in only 1 block, despite people liking it on that row it never went any further and has now been removed.
"OxRails" was a bizarre idea, using huge scaffolding size poles didn't seem to have a point, and was certainly less flexible than the established rail seats design. I can only assume it was an attempt to make it "cheap"

So alot more clubs have installed safe standing recently, can we do this in the east stand and would it improve the atmosphere in the stadium?

During Kelvin Thomas' tenure as Chairman , quite an extensive study was carried out re Safe standing ( at the breeze block).... including involving Brookes Students to incorporate said study into part of their course work.... FSF ( as was at the time) came to meeting with KT and several OUFC supporters.... at a pre season open day a small section of railseats was on display, there were several photos of ( then) OUFC players, notably Beano, on the small section of rail seating.... OUFC really could have been at the vanguard of pioneering the introduction of railseats/ safe standing.... sadly when OLSlippery took control of OUFC, it was claimed there were no records / information, (or if there was it had been 'lost') regarding studies etc for safe standing etc ...... a bit of a shame that was IMO

sadly a few seasons later , again under Ol' Slippery's tenure, 'open season' was declared on the Ultras seemingly, instigated/ driven by a certain Mr Mixter, - who also was behind the short-lived OxRails experiment-, apparently with the backing of Ol' Slippery ... which even more of a shame IMO

The whole situation with Mixter and the Ultras is absolutely inexplicable to me. Here you have a bunch of guys, who every other saturday get down there earlier to set up flags, and bring colour and noise to our souless sh!thole of a stadium, making it a more enjoyable for everyone and probably even helping inspire the players.

Then this absolute moron is authorised to harrass them until they feel forced to give up and either sit elsewhere or pursue other interests on a Saturday. The whole thing is an absolute joke which has caused seemingly irreparable damage to the atmos at Grenoble Rd. Shambles.

At the moment, back of East Stand in Block 19 (where Oxrails were), supporters in the back 4 rows appear to stand.
I think all part of the new initiative of generating some atmosphere it would be good to introduce the formal safe standing rails in the back 5 rows across the whole back of East Stand and then gradually increase that row by row as demand requires.
