Ex Player Ryan Williams

Was just digging into history a bit to see if he actually played for Subiaco AFC as a kid (my boy's team - it looks like he didn't) and discovered he has 2 brothers who are pros: Rhys who is older and currently plays for Western Sydney Wanderers, and a twin brother Aryn (see what they did there?) who plays for an Indonesian side (Persebaya - no obvious links to Bakrie BTW!).

You have to say that once the parents decided on the naming strategy Ryan did the better of the twins.

I wonder if he’s regretting a strong performance at RB now.

Like the kid who makes the mistake of saving a few shots when it’s his turn in goal, and never gets to play outfield again :)
I seriously hope that this was a one off and KR does not see this as anything more than a last resort.

He put in a committed and mature performance and was rightly MOTM, but I don't want the impact of Saturday to be diminished by being targeted and perhaps found out in subsequent games playing there ahead of a more specialist fullback...

He's a right back now, Karl's made him a right back.

Time to let this one go and move on. He's a right back now.

He may have to play there this evening if Forde is still injured.

There's no way Williams plays at RB over Long when he's fit... But I wouldn't be surprised to see him there if Long gets injured again, or if Seddon does and we don't have cover meaning Long has to move across. It's an interesting extra option to have, but I also feel that he was well covered by Sykes, Gorrin and McNally when the winger in him came to the forefront and you wouldn't want that every week. As a backup option over Forde when we're going to be on the front foot in a game I wouldn't mind seeing more, but never over Long.

Interestingly - who'd you pick at RB given the choice of Williams or Sean Clare? :D

I think Williams is great. Just the sort of player you want in the squad, if not starting XI. Have heard the rumours but really hope he doesn’t leave in January.

Completely agree. I think he's been quite hard done by not to be starting more often. IMO he's produced more consistent performances (when he's had the chance) this season than Whyte.

He was poor away at Wimbledon when to be fair the whole team were shite. But every other time he has played he's been pretty much man of the match. Pace, skill, real determination and can pop up with a goal. Probably not in the fully fit first 11 but any dip in form from the wingers and he should be in there.

I think he’s in the same sort of bracket as an Alex MacDonald in our promotion season. Probably not the most skilful or exciting player in his position, but adds that extra 10% of effort that rubs off on the whole team. That said, I’d put his performance v Charlton at home as one of our best individual performances of the season.

Terrific performance today and I hope he stays.
I know that a few on here like to pigeonhole players and their positions, but I would play him as first choice on the left. He has a bit of pace, is incredibly tenacious and skilful.
