Fair play to Zelensky though, he is playing Boris like a fiddle as he clearly recognises Bojo's narcissism will keep him coming back for more photo ops. Massage Boris ego and the arms will keep flowing, but ask him to step up and take in a few hundred thousand more refugees and you won't see him for dust....He know which side his bread is buttered ;)

I'm sure the only thing more convenient for Boris would be if a military junta regained control in Argentina and decided it wanted the Malvinas back...

Two sides - same coin.
Ukraine's Operational Command South has claimed a major victory.
“During the night, as a result of another successful stage of the military operation with strikes by our missile and artillery, the opponent hurriedly evacuated the remains of the garrison (of Snake Island) with two speed boats… Currently, it is covered in fire and explosions.”

Russia has admitted to withdrawing from Snake Island. Their version of events is rather different, saying they have pulled out “as a goodwill gesture” to help “the UN to establish a humanitarian corridor for transporting agricultural products from Ukraine".

 
Not sure if this has been mentioned previously, but has anyone thought that this might be Putin’s Swan song if reports are to be believed that his health is deteriorating and he wants to go out with a bang?

I watched a fascinating video recently about how this dispute is actually about oil, and how a Western-leaning Ukraine government is running the risk of putting that oil (which is conveniently located in massive quantities underneath the Donbas and Crimea...) in the hands of Western petroleum companies.

Here it is. It's really interesting as we haven't heard this narrative in the media and RealLifeLore is a very reputable source for geopolitical educational videos.

TBF I heard this discussed on the Radio 4 the other day as a possible reason for Putin’s invasion. Ukraine is also a mineral rich country which could become important with future cleaner technologies.

Either way it’s a big problem for Putin.
The entire Russian economy has been propped up by its Oil and Gas exports for 30 years. If the World starts buying Ukrainian oil and gas or switches to renewables, the Russian economy is finished, and most likely so is Putin!!

Isn't that largely due to the stalemate nature that this war has become? If the Russians were properly equipped, they would have won this by now. Ukrainian resistance and a doggedness to keep the Russians at bay has meant that there hasn't really been much to report other than the odd taking/retaking of a position from either side.

It shouldn't slip away from the news pages but these long running wars can do.
