Robinson is a clown

Yes, because he’s stopped playing his stupid one dimensional formation that clearly wasn’t working, is picking the best players consistently, and has stopped talking so much absolute bullshit that only served to make him appear a clueless lunatic.

Just because things have turned around doesn’t mean there weren’t enormous problems that people were right to be concerned about. If he’d done it his own way there would be room for gloating. As it is he’s just a very silly man who has stopped being as much of a very silly man. And I’m happy about that.

It's interesting that you criticise Robinson on being fixated on one view and being too arrogant and stubborn to change, yet you are exactly the same!

If the problems were as enormous as you state, and that Robinson was entirely responsible, then surely extra credit must be given for the recent turn around in form? The last 11 games have given 20 points, 5 home wins in a row, a tight defence, Browne, Henry and Whyte with the freedom to attack. Not a bad return from a very silly man?!

Christ here we go again, Scotchers. Bounce bounce bounce bounce!

He has succeeded in ditching everything he was doing badly, that everyone called him on. Yes, well done for changing it, but it only proves people right who said what he was doing before was idiotic and doomed. If you were doing something wrong, and refused to change, and someone else told you to stop doing it that way because it would never work, and you did then change it and it worked another way, you’d have no grounds to say you knew what you were doing all along. And you’d certainly have no grounds to tell people who called you on it that they were wrong about you. No, they were RIGHT about it. But don’t let that stop you pinging around the room like a bouncy ball like always!

Oh, and congratulations to James Henry, who despite not even being good enough for the subs bench on Robinson’s magical ‘ideal team’ whiteboard is continuing to be one of the best players in the division. Good management, that.

Woops ?

Do you ever think that the magical whiteboard might have only been in place to see who was stupid enough to believe it??

The problem with KR at the beginning of the season wasn't his ability to manage, but his inability to handle the pressure of a bad run - which resulted in numerous terrible interviews after matches.

He was lucky to keep his job. Those interviews were horrific - on top of the results.

To be fair, though, quite a few people said that he was a manager who just stuck rigidly to Plan A, with no Plan B. He's surely shown that that wasn't the case, and as players have come back from injury he's been more than willing to modify his approach.

It's funny (though no one's laughing) that both Mapp and Robbo started in exactly the same disastrous way...I'd now love to see the latter emulate the former, with promotion secured at the end of next season.

I'm not too sure what job you had at the club or dealings with the club you had Ryan but you're posts are coming across as very bitter. It's a shame because most of your posts are well thought out and you speak with intelligence.

Football managers live and die by their results. When results weren't going our way at the start KR took the blame and rightly so. This may be because KR wanted to try and implement certain things that didn't work. KR had staff who were comfortable enough to tell him to think about trying different things and KR was humble enough to listen to them. It is only right that a manager in his first full season with a football club wants to try and do things his way, he is the manager after all.

I know as well that he was trying to off load Henry in the summer but he didn't manage to secure the replacement he had for him. Does this mean KR thinks Henry is a bad player? No, he just wants to bring in his own players. It is then up to Henry to prove his worth to the new manager which he has now done.

Now we are on a great run, won 5 home games in a row for the first time in 22 years, KR should rightly have praise for this.

Interestingly, unless my maths fail me, after 22 games in MApp's first season we also had 25 points, 6 wins, 7 draws and 9 defeats but with a goal difference of -5. Although, of course, many were also screaming for his head too.

Despite the bitterness from some, Robinson is showing himself to be a decent manager and one able to adapt and change when needed. He is passionate, and although many of his outbursts were embarrassing they at least showed that he cares. There is certainly more to be happy with than not right now, and maybe we will see more in January if Tiger is to be believed!

Really strange backhanded complements.
If you listen to Henry he says that he gets on really well with KR and he is playing the best football of his career.
Are you suggesting that a team with 5 points from 11 games then loses 1 in 14 (fourteen) games is not good management??
Seriously?

I think Robinson has run over @RyanioBirdio s cat or something! Some of the stuff he comes out with is laughable!!!

We started badly partly because the team was assembled too late and players weren’t fit, and partly because the formation was too open. KR must have come close to losing his job after Luton but he weathered it and changed the formation, which has made us a pretty good side. That’s good management and impressive mental strength - in his position most of us would have run away and hid or called for our mothers.

*compliments.

Anyway, Robinson discovered he had 11 or so players and [/lightningstrike] realised he would have to use them in a sensible manner. It's to his credit (or someone else on the management team's) that he has. Perhaps Shaun Derry is the Alan Knill behind the throne, I don't know.

But I do hope someone is guiding his hand in the January recruitment,

We saw it against Burton where we looked nervous at the back and unable to hold the ball up front, but when it clicked we looked like we would rip them apart. Eastwood, and a much improved Nelson and Dickie have enabled us to be more solid at the back, and Mous is invaluable sat in front of them. Mackie is now able to play the hold up role that Smith couldn't and this spine gives freedom for the likes of Brannaghan, Whyte, Browne and Henry to play their natural games.

Robinson has adapted but has also kept true to his initial vision (one up, one behind and two wingers). He has looked to bring our youth through and managed the appearances of those with injuries. We are still threadbare and need to build in January, but he has shown that he could build a squad to challenge with the right backing.

He shoots from the hip in his interviews, and this rarely does him any favours, but he has softened the edges and has taken on board the criticism he had for this. He has chilled out on the touchline, and appears to have developed a much happier and united group of players.

And nearly all of this improvement has taken place whilst the off field activities have been in turmoil and he has been left to steady the ship. He might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I honestly don't think anyone could have asked more from Robinson over the last couple of months?

Sorry Compliments. You are right

Robbo has softened his edges and was chilling out yesterday? Really? Didn't look like it from the upper flaskers stand.
We remarked how animated he seemed when there didn't seem to be anything to be animated about...perhaps he was just trying to keep warm?

Whatever, delighted with how the team has gelled recently. The first half v Blackpool was a pleasure to watch. Thanks Robbo! Happy Christmas to you and yours!?

Tbf, yesterday was definitely the day to be animated to keep warm.

Got to agree, couple of times yesterday he was doing his nut, mind you the Lino on his side was shite.

That's how I see it as well - the side that kicked off against Barnsley was unfit and unbalanced. If we'd secured the services of Mackie, Holmes, Browne etc in June rather than late July/August and we'd had the chance to bring them up to speed, we'd probably be sat comfortably in mid-table. Instead, we were utterly abject for the first quarter of the season - something we'll come to regret later as our current form is good enough to be challenging for the top spots.

Whisper it quietly (as it's unfair to throw abuse on someone who is out injured), but not having to see Obika up front for us makes us massively stronger. His good pre-season against Irish pub teams did us no favours as we thought he was in good form. We're better off without him.

However, this thread is on KR. I mused that during our rough spell whether the lustre of what makes him a reasonable third tier manager had worn off (I cited Dave Penney as a manager who initially had great success but with each managerial appointment had ever fewer returns), but my worries there seem to have be put to rest. A few simple changes like moving Mousinho to DM, leaving out the disappointing Garbutt, Norman and Smith and utilising Henry and Browne in their best positions and we're back on the straight and narrow. Having a few players return from injury and getting those who needed fitness up to speed have helped us out. He deserves praise for it, but on the other hand we should be wary should we start next season again with him not to have such a stinking transfer window nor be starting our first game in August with such an under-prepared squad.

All I can do about league games 1-11 is stew on how bad we were in them. We can't do anything about them now aside from put it behind us. They're results that stink out our season so far as they both act as wasted opportunities to have us higher up the league and a reminder that a rotten rung can really anchor you down. Let's not go back there, eh?

KR - a man who can't even punctuate his Christmas message properly:
"Club’s are pillars of the community".
Maurice Evans must be turning in his grave.
One loss in 16 and he can't even punctuate his Christmas message properly.
Ok it has to be a whoosh and I have presumably fallen for it.
