Non-League RIP Joe Thompson

Having gone through non hodgins lymphoma my self, I was always so impressed with how he overcame and started to play high level football again

Awful news and at such a young age. In an ever increasing "corporate" world, it was lovely to read the words from Rochdale that show just how much he was loved by everyone at the club, not just as a player by as a man, husband and father.

This is an example why I get so frustrated with the "I don't care as long as we win" attitude that some have shown this week. Football is only a game, but we forget that this is only a short few years from young men with their whole lives ahead of them. Life can change in a moment and this once again puts everything into perspective.

My thoughts are with his young family and all who knew Joe.

I remember the last game of the 2017-18 season. I was at Ewood Park that day and Rochdale had to beat Charlton to stay in L1.

Thompson scored the winner. It was fairytale stuff as Thompson had beaten cancer for the second time.

Terrible news that he has passed. Just 36.

Thoughts very much with his family. A wicked disease that has caught someone so young

Another opponent sadly left too soon

The law of averages says we will lose a few, but it brings it home when the lads are so young. We lost Maurice Kyle in his forties, Tony Jones in his fifties, and Super Cass in his early sixties. They will never be forgotten. Martin Aldridge was the most bitter pill to swallow... aged just 26.

Peter Houseman as well.
