National Politics 🔴 The Labour Party

Sorry, "Russia nonsense"?

Are you saying that you don't believe that there has ever been a concerted Russian effort to influence any UK votes or elections?

Of course there has been, been going on for years whatever that country calls itself. Given the age and political leaning on here a few will have voted for a Labour leader who is confirmed as having taken money from the KGB during the cold war.

Love that list.
they could have used so much more

Rayner - she’s a red headed granny …. Urgh….
Lammy - he talks like a posh bloke …. That’s a bit wrong
Milliband - he looks like an ardman character
Streeting- I can’t think of anything

L is for Labour
L is for Lice

I think most will agree that Russia isn’t some communist state or even socialist state anymore.?

It is a dictatorship run for the benefit of its leader at his whim so ideologically is more aligned to self serving politicians like Trump and Farage.

Thats why Russia is having success recruiting Reform MPs. A bung of a load of cash seems to do the trick.

That's why I was keen to learn what he meant by "Russia nonsense" in terms of being a conspiracy theory of the left.

Assume you mean Foot? I think a few might deny that. Before my time.

Are you talking about Michael Foot and allegations from the 1960's?
:ROFLMAO:

Allegations 🤣, he was in the pay of the KGB for a period of time and ended up Labour party leader.

Didn't realise only one side could bring up the past, some of you wake up screaming about Thatcher and the miners. Least she kept him out.

There were more than a few allegations that there was Russian influence in the Harold Wilson era in the 60s.
How much was substantiated I don’t know.
I’m shocked that Sir Keir is shocked that Lord Mandelson lied to him.
i was shocked too. Especially as Mandelson had always served his party well and there was no sign of anything underhanded like private mortgage arrangements.
He must have something about him, the prince of darkness to be perceived as honest and above board by the dead man walking.

Like Corbyn, he was never, ever going to be voted in as PM. Anyone could have stood against either.

I agree she was weak. Made the mistake like Heath thinking she was popular, and seeking re election.
She was already skewered by the massive leave/remain schism in her own party with the likes of Boris and Gove on manoeuvres, she never stood a chance.

Then the lunatics were given the keys to the Tory asylum and the rest is history, as they say 🤷‍♂️

Seems like Farage was similarly duped but unlike Starmer doesn't have the balls to admit it.

In December 2024, Farage described Mandelson as a "very intelligent man" and an "enormously talented bloke". He expressed a willingness to act as a "bridge" between Mandelson and the Trump administration to serve the national interest.

Nigel Farage offers to help Lord Mandelson win over Trump https://share.google/ncAHQaX2Dhey49AJt

Oligarchy is the correct term I believe. Much like the US has become and Farage and his stooges want to see here.

For everyone who seems to rail against "bureaucrats" who are "on the gravy train", they seem to be happy to welcome in with open arms . . . . Oligarchs . . .who will. . . . . .deliver fairness and a better future for all.

Make it make sense🤷‍♂️

Brexit never properly went through.
The legislation was blocked by self interested MPs on all sides. After all, how dare the electorate have an opinion that doesn’t match there opinion.?
Does it not occur to you that the electorate wanted out because the EU is a massive bureaucracy run for the benefit of MEPs and the respective countries second, with the U.K. after Germany and France.
Starmer wants to take us back in. He denies it of course, but he will gradually take us back in step by step.

It sounds like you accept then that the EU is a massive bureaucracy run by aloof servants who await their fat and inglorious pensions.
