I'd hate to put a dampener on the general doom and gloom that is being bandied about on this forum but following a terrible run of fixtures in January and February, we have an excellent set of fixtures to look forward to throughout March:

March Fixtures
Oxford United vs. Scunthorpe United
Gillingham vs. Oxford United
Rochdale vs. Oxford United
Oxford United vs. Bradford City
Coventry City vs. Oxford United
Oxford United vs. Wycombe Wanderers

Our home form is good and I reckon we will get that elusive away win soon.

April fixtures
Walsall vs. Oxford United
Oxford United vs. AFC Wimbledon
Oxford United vs. Charlton Athletic
Shrewsbury Town vs. Oxford United
Oxford United vs. Doncaster Rovers
Luton Town vs. Oxford United

We Just need to ensure that we are safe before the Doncaster Game at home.

definatley. would hate to go into that last game against Luton needing 3 points to stay up or other results to go our way

We need to have the home form we had when we won 4 at home in a row.
There are definitely winnable games once the next 3 are out of the way ...

I reckon we need to be safe before Donny. They’re in good form, will probably go into the playoff places this weekend.

Ive an optomistic feeling were going to embark on a run of winning/unbeaten games that will see us climb the league to the lofty height of lower mid table starting Saturday with an unexpectedly resounding thumping of the mackems

Ha! We make a mockery of the word “winnable.” Portsmouth at home? Wimbledon away? But I take your point...

It's all if's and buts but anything other than a dreadful first quarter to the season would have seen us reasonably placed. Even turning the losses over Christmas against Riovers, Southend and Plymouth into draws would have seen us in 16th. Or holding out against Barnsley, and getting a goal against Burton. This would have pushed us up to 15th.

It's all very fine margins and too fine to get carried away. But get through the next couple of weeks without too much damage, and we will have a better run of games ahead of us than many of the others scrapping away at the bottom.

But if course the very fact that we were unable to turn losses into draws or draws into wins is exactly WHY we are where we are! And judging by Saturday, that hasn't changed.
There isn't a team at the bottom who couldn't use the same 'logic' to say they should/could be higher up the table.
There has been quite a bit of stuff on here about the quality of the players we have - and it is true that there are some good ones in there. But that doesn't mean we can't ship five goals to a team in the league below, fail to hold on to a two goal lead at home or fail to score when playing against 10 men for 80 minutes. In the last fortnight.
The is no team in our position where either the team or the players in it are 'too good to go down'.

Can we pease start a Reasons to be Miserable thread? I'm sure it will stretch to many more pages than this one anyway!!!

We also have the Accy game in hand which could mean a lot between also rans

Reasons to be cheerful:
- We still have Nelson post Jan
- Jonte is potentially an interesting signing
- Carruthers is almost fit and could be very useful
- There are loads of point to play for and we will have played a lot of the toughest fixtures in terms of the very best teams after this weekend
- March is the key a very winnable month
- Its still very much in our hands

We've tended to save our best performances for matches v teams in the upper reaches of the table (Pompey, Barnsley at home, Donny etc).
We urgently need to up our game against fellow relegation candidates and mid-table teams.

We did beat Plymouth Shrewsbury Blackpool Gillingham and Rochdale in successive home games.
Except for Blackpool bottom.half teams. We have quite a few bottom.half teams left to play.
We need similar kind of form.
