European Championships Quarter-Final: Spain 🇪🇦 vs Germany 🇩🇪

I wonder what ITV's VAR "specialist" is getting paid for adding absolutely no insight whatsoever.

On FOX in the US, they've got Mark Clattenburg playing that role.

I can't imagine that there's any American that has a clue what he's saying, unless for some reason they happen to speak fluent Geordie.

Germany lose to a last minute ET goal then.....how tragic. :ROFLMAO:

As an aside - I feel like Germany suffered from a minor version of Ronaldo syndrome this tournament.

Toni Kroos has without doubt been a great player for a long time, but boy is he slow now. Don't recall him contributing very much at all to their wins and goals this tourney - feel like they would have been better off deciding to put him into retirement one tournament sooner and getting another athlete in there.

Germany should have had handball

Shocking defending for Spain’s winner, especially from Rudiger

Absolutely terrible ball in from Kroos at the end there, with his quality that’s unforgivable

Champions league winner a month ago though, not in a retirement league like Ronaldo, so that’s a brave move for a manager.

Yeah, but he was surrounded by Camavinga, Bellingham and Valverde - those three can do a hell of a lot of running so that Kroos doesn't have to.

For Germany, he's starting alongside Emre Can and Gundogan, and then they're bringing on Andrich.....just not enough energy there, meaning that Kroos was a luxury they couldn't really afford.

Either of those two sides would have slaughtered England the way they are playing.

Having just caught up with this game, I was expecting to see more comments on here about the amount of cynical fouls and fake “injuries” on both sides, but the Spanish were worse.
It made the game frustrating to watch despite the quality of some of the football played.

Maybe beaten but England let very few goals in.
I reckon England v Germany would have been close ( their old midfieldvand Havertz their best striker)

As a half German I was disappointed they’ve gone out, but as an England fan I reckon we’d have a 10% chance of beating Spain if (lol) we get to the final, but would have had zero against that German side.

I would have it the other way round, would much rather play Germany than Spain in the final, Spain have been the stand out team so far.
