 QPR v Luton

I think teams around us drawing against each other is the result we want as it keeps both of them in the relegation mix.
While that’s true on one level, we could really do with Plymouth and one other team absolutely imploding as that would only leave one relegation spot for us to avoid. QPR have more points than Luton, who have just lost their last 3 in a row so if they make it 4 tonight that might not be the end of the world, a couple more losses after that and they’ll be in horrendous form and in big trouble

My preference was for a draw but now it looks like QPR are going to win so I'll change my mind and go along with your plan.

Beat Plymouth next week and we're 14th. By no means out of the woods but quite an upturn.

Luton have been awful.

Until the last 10 minutes, where desperation has set in, they have offered very little. For an ex-prem side, their lack of quality is incredible.

NB: Pretty disappointing following from Luton tonight, very surprised they couldn’t fill the top tier at QPR, despite the game being on Sky.

Strange to say but I’d suggest ignoring league position and focus on the points etc.

Priority for this season is staying up. An increasing gap between us and the four to five bottom teams is vital. Assuming Pompey capitalise on their games in hand we’ll want Luton well and truly in the relegation mixer.

Odd, QPR looked terrible against us (which is why it was such a bad reflection on us that they won so easily), and yet since then they've done really well.
they started 1-8-7
since the end of Nov they have been 6-3-1 (if they hang on to win v Luton). 5 home wins in a row.

QPR should have won that comfortably, missed 4 sitters. Especially the amazing miss by Dunne on the rebound after the keeper had saved his header.

They had lots of injuries when they played us - defence nearly all missing or playing out of position, no Frey and Chair wasn’t fit enough to start having been out for six weeks - which made the manner of our defeat all the more depressing.

Personally glad QPR won tonight. I want the teams below us to keep losing so they can’t catch us, and QPR were already above us as it was. I know it’s tight but if every team around us keeps picking up points we will stay sucked in. We need a couple of teams to start falling away, and that will mean some of the other teams around us climbing as a result. I’m still looking at 21st place as a massive prize, and Luton staying an extra point behind us is much more beneficial on that front.

If QPR have turned into a good team then that makes our last 5 home games a bit murder row, them, Watford, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Leeds (not in that order), we need to make sure we have points in the bag as we are not chasing other teams down with that run in.

Exactly this. If we are saying 50 points is the magic number of points to stay up Luton have got to gain 25 points from their remaining 22 games to achieve that now after tonight. The more points dropped from teams below us the better and that magic number of 50 will start to come down.

The good news is that Luton have played 26 games now.
So they need 25 points from just 20 games ( and to date they have less than a point a game)

This is true, there comes a point when you don’t want half the league in a relegation scrap and we are sort of approaching that time now - certainly in another 5 games time, around the 30 game mark. You eventually want the relegation fight to become a 4, 5 or 6 way mini league. Of course there’s always the danger a team around halfway could lose 6 or 7 on the bounce and get sucked it in but if we get clear of that scrap with 15 to go I’d be reasonably confident that Rowett will have the nous to guide us to safety. Right now, I’m hoping the likes of Plymouth, Hull, Cardiff, Luton and Portsmouth keep on dropping points whoever they’re playing.

Good spot. There is only 46 games not 48 😂. Even better

Luton are in the poo. I mean really in the poo!

I think they and Plymouth will go down. The third spot could be anyone’s. We just need to focus on ourselves. The more we tick off points mainly at home, then we will be fine.

Given that they're receiving about £50m in parachute payments (likely more than double our total revenues for the season on its own), genuinely think that Rob Edwards has done comfortably the worst job of any manager in the Championship! Yes, even Rooney......

If it wasn't for the fact that he'd taken them up to the PL in the first place, he'd surely be gone. But I'm guessing it can't be very long now......

I think they gave him a very expensive contract, and don’t want to pay him off.

It’s been a car crash of a season so far for Luton.

Although we don't know how much he's actually been given to spend
