The problem is, it is not the British public who are voting, well not most of us. Just a tiny amount in Clacton and Farage won't have to do much to get them to vote for him.

Farage got 46% of the vote at the last GE. Do you think that his support in Clacton has increased or decreased since then?

Even a joke candidate has the potential to unite the "Anyone but Farage" crew who could make it into a party atmosphere that would see even more coming out. Even if this was only a few thousand, Farage would have to counter this by campaigning to get his supporters out who would otherwise think it was a forgone conclusion.

This would be hugely embarrassing for someone who presents as the saviour of British politics with Reform going out in numbers to stop a man with a bin on his head.

It is Clacton so probably increased. Who knows.

There would only be one joke candidate........and it wouldn't be Count Binface.

If a boat can be named Boaty McBoat Face then I’ve no doubt Count Binface can win in Clacton.

Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem combined votes are higher than the 21k that Farage achieved. A united “anyone but Farage” may well see him not elected in Clacton.

I’d imagine there are also a few 2024 voters completely disenfranchised by him, his lack of representation of the constituency, the scandals and so on. There may also be those who feel he’s not gone far enough.

Going to be an interesting one if it goes ahead.

Conservative, Labours, Lib Dems, Green Party and Restore UK aren't fielding any candidates. If Farage does somehow miraculously, astonishingly manage to pull this off and overcome the heavyweight contenders of Count Binface, Laurence Fox, Monster Raving Loony Party and some bloke dressed up as a dolphin in an event paid for, organised and in no way manipulated by Reform UK, then that would be one hell of an achievement. That will be right up there with Donald Trump's FIFA peace prize and me winning the Bognor Regis donkey derby when I was 6 years old!

This could spectacularly backfire on Farage.
The by election will turn out into a bit of a joke ( not a good thing overall).
If the anybody but Farage voters vote for Binface, it could be very embarrassing for him.

This really could turn into his worst nightmare if he becomes a figure of ridicule. Some people being angry over the 'gifts' is one thing but this could be far more damaging with more people and more likely to stick (ie. Ed Miliband with the Bacon Sandwich or Truss and the Lettuce).

Farage is 1/7 to win it
Binface not even listed but have seen a 200/1 bar.

I mean..watching Farage lose to a man in a bin costume AND making a killing at the bookies... what's not to like🤷‍♂️

What a difference a day makes. Count Binface's odds have now been slashed to 5/1 at Ladbrokes and Paddy Power.

I can't help thinking Farage has shot himself in the foot here.

It will only pause the various committees looking into his finances, not stop them for good.
Since none of the major parties are going to put up a candidate, any victory will be pretty hollow.
If any of the other far right parties decides to put up a candidate, his vote will be split.
But if *any* significant amount of voters put their Xs next to a joke candidate, he will be a laughing stock - never mind if all the non-Farage voters combine to get him beaten.

Couldn't happen to a nicer man.

I wish he'd aim higher

Do I think Bin will win? No.

But it will not only be hilarious to see the Farage Circus having to get his voters out to counter a novelty candidate. But also seeing everyone who has (literally) banked on Farage being PM having a complete meltdown as this all falls apart.

And whilst this is all going on, even the likes of the daily Mail and Talk TV are questioning Farage with others openly mocking him. The usual Reform goons are all rushing out to say that there is no case to answer in regards to the £5m and Posh George, but they are looking increasingly stupid when their only defence is that its not fair that people are picking on Nige.

In only a few weeks, we have gone from Reform having a real chance of beating Burnham, leaving Starmer as a dead duck in no.10 and facing a Labour Civil War and a GE, to now worrying about their very existence with their only credible leader being found out.

And I'm loving every second of it.

I imagine a lot of Clacton voters opted for Farage thinking he’d help Clacton.
But he’s never there. Has lied about security to get out of holding constituency surgeries. And, Reform have the worst Westminster attendance record after Sinn Féin. Farage is in the worst 8% of attendees.
Hopefully they will use their vote against Reforms attempt to avoid transparency.

According to the Guardian, there have been 4 Suspicious Activity Reports sent into the NCA by Bankers over Reform's finances.

Not just Farage but Tice as well. They aren't a crime report to be clear. I'd be curious what the case is with other Political Parties.

According to the report they are, at least, still trying to find the source of the funds from one of them.
