So, MP is resigning because Parliamentary Commission is looking into his financials. He then immediately enters the election race again. If he wins, the Parliamentary Commission is surely duty-bound to continue looking into his financials, is it not?

Isn't this nothing more than political theatre?
The investigation continues even if he should win.

I would suggest that he's trying to delay the inevitable. He'll b****r off to US if found guilty of anything. Shame it's not a criminal offence.

Maybe inbetween resigning and being re-elected he is able to receive more bribes personal donations.

Reform have offered to pay for the by-election, what a joke.

I truly hope that they get demolished come voting.

He'll carry on sniping from the sidelines, as usual, but hopefully the media will move on from him and his LTD Co.

So he’s resigning and then standing again because the times editor published a picture of where his daughter lives. His speech was a classic flood the zone job. Big on outrage, big on rage bait and weak on logic.
When he loses the BE, Reform are done. He'll just keep on giving it large from the side-lines; doing actual parliamentary work and grifting don't mix. He hates inspection from the "establishment" which is so funny considering that he is part of the class who run the show.

Surely this is a huge risk for reform, since likely it will be reform vs the next most popular party in Clapton. Since as per makerfield, people will make it a two party vote either for or against Farage. Since I’m pretty certain green, Labour, conservative voters will lend their vote to whoever is most likely to stop Farage. (Maybe I am being optimistic and not looked at the last election numbers to know if this is enough)

I would love it, just love it if Ben Habib and Restore UK stood aganist him and cost him the seat by splitting the far right vote haha

Perhaps he just about to recieve another sizeable 'gift' and as he's no longer an MP he won't need to declare it.

I'm sure Ben Habib and Rupert Lowe would love nothing more than to get one over on their adversary. A while back, I also heard Carol Vorderman was considering running against Farage.

Popcorn sales have gone up (as have milkshake sales in the Clacton area).

Within 12 months of the by-election so would have to declare otherwise it would be a repeat of the Harborne/Cottrell situation.
Ah but he didn't 'nothing wrong' there so he wouldn't have to declare. šŸ˜‰

Restore aren’t standing and I doubt Habib would would. Habib and Lowe are far right. Reform UK is not perceived as far right.

this then is nothing but performative. it wont stop the investigations and it will cost the public purse the cost of the by election. even if he wins he will still have to be investigated for these breaches.

They’re described as right wing. Even the Conservatives don’t use that terminology even if some of those on the left of the Labour Party do.
Far right is the term used to describe those who are fascist and anti democratic…or a criticism made by those that don’t like Reform and want to denigrate them as extreme

I think Farage has already agreed to meet the costs involved of the by election, even if the Makerfield by election and Manchester mayoral election costs had to met by central government.

is he going to use some of that £5m from Christopher Harbourne to pay for it then? i dont even think he is allowed to front the costs of the election. seems fishy

Because he didn't understand what a independent democratic process is.
