Dot Counting Preston North End Home Ticket Thread 13th December (12:30pm)

Attendance tracking
Sorry, but I don't buy that. Even if I did, surely that is next weekend anyway?

We seem to have the highest percentage of fans who are away on holiday at the start of the season, the highest percentage whose kids play Saturday morning football, the highest percentage who can't make midweek games, and now the highest percentage who go Christmas shopping! We certainly have the highest percentage of excuse makers.

As an aside, last season's highest home attendance was 11,567 verses Sheffield Wednesday. Guess when it was? 14 December, the exact same weekend as this game.
We have our highest attendances for decades by a fair margin.

Not at all , Ill be there tomorrow but do think 12.30 ko on a Sat close to Christmas against unglamous opposition will have an effect.
Interesting that the crowd was a few dozen more last season on that date compared to others though .
No excuses at all and you do enjoy it seems having digs at the OUFC fanbase at every opportunity for reasons I'm not clear about.

It looks like all of the back section of the middle blocks of the East Stand are sold out.

I’m unable to make tomorrow’s game but due to an attendance obsession, it’s better that someone buys an inferior east stand ticket.

Let's clear this up.

I am not "having digs" at the Oxford United fanbase at every opportunity at all. I often defend our fanbase when we're caricatured as soft, southern, toffs, by other clubs' fans. I also defend my club at every opportunity, either online or in person.

But, I want my club to be the best possible version of itself, and this includes the backroom operations, which often leave a lot that could be improved. One of these things is the ticketing management, which has allowed a situation where certain people have been able to buy cheap season tickets that they appear to undervalue to such an extent that they can't be arsed to actually turn up for matches regularly. That there is a waiting list for season tickets compounds this situation.

That is what and who I am calling out.

Midnight Thursday update.

The sluggish pattern continues. A further 56 sales in the preceding 24 hours left us at 9,163 home GA sales at midnight. I'd now say our target has to be 9,545 home sales, to beat the Millwall game, and at the moment that's in the balance. We should be at about 9,400 with the boxes added in, so are looking for about 150 sales today and tomorrow morning. There have been about 30 sales this morning so far, so it will be touch and go.

Others may have seen some, but I have seen zero marketing from the club for this game. It was never going to be an attractive game as nobody wants to see #teamslikepreston but it seems as though we haven't tried very hard. At least they haven't opened the ticket exchange.
Midnight Friday update.

Better sales of 122 over the 24 hour period, but unfortunately the club put an extra 60 tickets back on sale (mostly in Block 9 of SSU) so the net figure only went up by 62 to 9,225.

This is 83 below the Millwall game at the same stage, and the lowest of the season for a Saturday game. The Millwall attendance is now under threat as we need 320 sales today to match it. Even allowing for the boxes I'm not sure we'll do that in the next three and a half hours. My tongue in cheek forecast of 10,663 earlier in the week is now looking spookily close.

The published figure for the attendance yesterday was a disappointing 10,379 - our second lowest home attendance since we were promoted to the Championship.

Really odd final attendance figure.

The home sales totalled exactly 9,350. This was our lowest Saturday figure by nearly 200, that being the 9,545 for Millwall.

What was strange about it was that we had 9,225 showing as sold at midnight on Friday, which means that only 125 people were in boxes and match day sales. This can't be right, and is further confused by the fact that the club had done its usual adding back in of seats at the SSL and SSU fence end. My only explanation is that there must have been further seats marked as sold, that were not sold, but the club never added them back into the seating plan?

There were a fair few empty seats, although not as many as I thought there might be, especially as there were 736 seats unsold.

Lucky we’ve sold out for Boxing Day otherwise after yesterday’s showing it might have looked bleak, but at least it made for a Christmas Extravaganza!!

I thought the same re the empty seats, and felt I'd certainly seen it look worse in the Championship era.

Would be fascinating to know the non-attendance figures.
