Both head and heart sound to be good!!Head says 2nd, heart says 4th and promoted via play off final!
Come on. They sold 400 tickets the first day of being on sale for the game against us. So bound to take 1000's!!It would be an interesting day if we played wyscum in the p.o final we would take 35k they might mange 5k ?
I think that is nonsense. As much as I would like a playoff finish 8-10 is what I think.. Then KR goes in the summer. Would put the board in a bad position if we were to get promoted I think that is the last thing they want. Which is a good or a bad thing.. I can't quite work it out with these lot. From the actions so far it seems tread water is good for them and maybe they can make a little on a sale with the training ground make a little profit. I don't think they want to be stuck with the club in the championship without a buyer.
We have looked very good and fit in the past 3 games. We have played an auful lot of games this season cup runs have been good fun. But you can see the effects of cup runs in the league. I myself would rather do without them if doing well in the league. I think we will fall short.
Your probably right. ? I was rambling abit there and tend to have a negitve veiw on things. If we continue this little run with returning players like woodburn and others regaining form I think 4th or 5th. Is attainable if I think positivley.I think that is nonsense.
Who's Woodman??We have looked very good and fit in the past 3 games.
Taylor, Henry and Brannagan all had a break with injuries. They all now look fit and back to playing well.
Kelly and Woodman to come back in.
To the end of the season there are no midweek games bar Easter.
I would say we look in decent shape if we dont get key injuries (and Dickies inevitable suspension)
Andy Woodman, back in to cover for Easty!!Who's Woodman??![]()
after the season ends? When is the play offs not that we will
Need them we’re going to finish 2nd
theyve got more than a few points to get yet for that to happenI would like to see us against Wimbledon in the final.
No Wimbledon. After hitting 5 against them recently, I think we would stand a good chance.
It’s a 44 game season, so it’s not going to be as many points as usual for the two automatic spots. A lot of the teams have to play eachother too, so there are a lot of points to be dropped between them. Our toughest games on paper are
Wycombe away
Portsmouth Home
Coventry away
Fleetwood home.
Easier games
Shrewsbury away
MK Dons Home
Rochdale away
Bristol R Home
Tranmere Away
Bolton Home
It’s turned into a 10 game shootout. 6 more wins will give us 75 points. I think that should be enough for a playoff spot. I think we will draw a couple giving us 77 points.
Whatever happens it’s been a solid season, and the two good cup runs have been a financial bonus.
Having just returned to the forum, would like to reignite a discussion with a few Exiles recently. We have had a great season (and it may not be completed) but I dont want promotion. In the long term I think it would do more damage.
If we got promoted, I would envisage we would sell out of Season Tickets, circa say 9,000. People would then complain about not getting matchday tickets. I fear we would not be able to compete and come straight back down. Heaven forbid we spent some money then got players on stupid money for Div 1. And some of our supporters would deride the club for not spending money.
Thoughts?
probably get a low capacity 'temporary' stand installed... and that would be itPutting aside stadium moves, how many seasons in the championship do people think it would be before the plunge was taken for the fourth side?
Wouldnt it depend on our Mr Kassam?Putting aside stadium moves, how many seasons in the championship do people think it would be before the plunge was taken for the fourth side?
For me on a selfish point I would like us to get promotion purely because in all the years I’ve supported oufc I can’t remember us playing in the championship BUT I do agree with what your saying about tickets and the damage that could happen if we signed players on silly contracts but like many say I just want to see us playing againHaving just returned to the forum, would like to reignite a discussion with a few Exiles recently. Since I’ve been supporting OUFC we’ve spend most years in league two a few in non league and now in league one we might have been league one when I started but was to young to remember ?Personally... and its been a while since the U's were last playing at that level.... I think what is now the Championship is OUFC's natural level, (just above mid table) .... seen the U's play at that level (old division 2) in three separate periods of time since Ive been supporting them
First season I saw the U's play , was the first full season after changing name from Headington United to Oxford United ( 'City were the main , and bloody awkward about it too, objectors to the name change)... that was the last season in the (old) Southern league- then elected to FL replacing Accrington Stanley who folded midway through the previous season... under Arthur Turner as manager & Big Ron (The Tank) Atkinson as captain, 6 seasons later OUFC were plying their trade in old division 2 (now the championship)..... after a number of seasons at that level the U's were relegated on the last game of the season (away to Leyton Orient!)...... very late 70s/early 80s under Jim Smith, the U's won old division 3 (league1), old division 2 (championship) in consecutive seasons to reach old Division 1 ( Premier league) where we had a Wembley cup final win, and stayed there for 3 seasons .... then the U's were in division 2 (championship) for a few seasons before the downwards slide to non league happened.... I really do hope this season isn't 'written off. as I still fancy the U's to get back to (IMO) our natural level when this campaign starts up againSince I’ve been supporting OUFC we’ve spend most years in league two a few in non league and now in league one we might have been league one when I started but was to young to remember ?
Really we’re at our natural level ... most championship clubs are a lot bigger. But our natural tendency is to punch above our weight, if that makes sensePersonally... and its been a while since the U's were last playing at that level.... I sort of know what you’re saying Sarge, but times have changed and the configuration of the leagues with it. At present our natural level is pretty much where we are now (ie top ten, League One).Personally... and its been a while since the U's were last playing at that level....
