Pre-Season Pre-Season 25/26 - Indonesia Tour

Just seen that Liam Rice is in Indonesia. Wonder if the club paid for the Oxford Mail to attend?
Cannot imagine Newsquest forking out ÂŁ5k for flights and accommodation for him,.

I bloody hope not, why would we pay for the OM to attend. All they need is their normal journalism which is AI to scan a bit from here, Twitter and our media team.’s report.

Re OM in Indonesia and club funding-That would be very compromising for both parties but perhaps there was a general group booking for "Oxford United" as part of expenses paid by the Presidents Cup. Though we don't know what the News Corps expenses run to esp. if it's providing copy to generate subs.

Let's hope there is not too much delay between the RO commentary and the tv pictures. I have just watched a bit of the first match and the commentary is wildly excitable.

Good! English commentary is so dull.

What’s the standard like to anyone watching the first game?

I'm srprised that there hasn't been an update on the tournament on the BBC Sport Championship page.
There can't be many Championship clubs playing in an international tournament.

The media only ever seem to be interested if it’s Wrexham playing

So, it seems that the club didn’t know/expect that anyone would travel for the tournament, and didn’t notice us at the stadium (apart from Tyler and Currie), but now they do, those heading down to Bandung will get an invite to training one day.

It does make you wonder how well the club understands its fans, doesn’t it?

Good that the club will finally acknowledged the supporters who made the commitment both financially and time wise to support the players. It does all feel a bit reactionary though.

I suspect there are people who run the club on a day to day basis who simply don’t understand the psyche of a dedicated football fan and in our case an Oxford United fan. They simply don’t get it, it’s alien to them. When you lose people like Niall, Chris and recently Martin you do lose that local connection and genuine understanding of OUFC supporters.

My guess is that those who regularly read and post on this forum are not at all surprised that 50 fans have travelled, they expected it and know with a little bit more communication and acknowledgement that fans would want to travel from the club those numbers would be far greater.

It’s disappointing. As a bonding exercise and experience between club, supporters, players and our Indonesian friends an opportunity has been missed.
