An age old debate but I still don’t think we’ve found our song to run out to. I was in the car the other day and Blurs Universal came on. I was inspired and moved and I thought a couple of things :

1. I like how it builds slowly to a crescendo so it would allow the crowd to grow into it
2. It’s a little bit emotive so I would start to connect Oxford match day memories to the tune
3. It’s unique because as far as I know there aren’t other teams using it (like sweet Caroline which even our rivals use )
4. The fans could get behind it as the lyrics are easy, repeatable and shoutable like a football chant

Thinking that they could start it exactly one minute before the players exit the tunnel. And maybe cut it on three minutes

I know not everyone will love the genre or tune but I feel it’s one in time that the small percentage of doubters might learn to love. We need to finally nail this and what better time than with the great atmosphere we will have this season in lots of full houses

agree something is needed, for me though ( I voted no to Blur The Universal) for 2 reasons, its not (IMO) uplifting enough, ... the other reason for me being in my travels all over the country, some people think Oxford is either in or right next to London, thinking were cockeys, or mockneys, Blur are mockneys- and nowt to do with Oxford

Supergrass - Sun Hits The Sky , however might be a suitable contender to run out to?

Really, Really, Really ???

If you want to find previous suggestions:

Much as I like Blur, there’s plenty of excellent Oxfordshire bands who should use in my opinion.

I’m not a bit shoegaze fan (so Ride wouldn’t particularly appeal to me) but lots of options from Foals, Radiohead, Supergrass etc.

Personally, I’d go with Richard III by Supergrass as it sounds so huge and would get the place nice and lively.

Fans can’t sing along to that.

No.

Black Bull or What Went Down by Foals for me. The video at Wembley before the teams came out used What Went Down, and it was fantastic.

Oxford has a fantastic music scene, any walk out song should be from a local act.

The walk out anthem needs to be uplifting and create an atmosphere. An acoustic track where it allows the fans to sing over the top of it would be my preference.

I think the answer is people will choose a tune from when they were in their twenties / enjoying life and partying.
fans over 65 = 70s ska and punk
fans over 55 = 80s anthems
fans over 45 = 90s indie and britpop
fans over 35 = EDM or a bit of drum and bass?

EDM and Drum and Bass was 90s as well, so that part of your timeline doesn't work. Perhaps Sheeran and Adele for 35yo.

Ignoring I'm 52 (today 😁) and have said 2 Foals tracks from the 2010s, so spiritually in my 20s 🤣
