Potential New Ground

Pointless only having a capacity of 15,000, we need to look to the future, we always used to be on par with Reading, it needs to be 20,000/25,000 capacity

We rarely sell out Kassam though - we got 6k on Tuesday? A 25k would be empty99% of the time

The chairman has a stated ambition of championship and who knows what next. New stadium will need the team to perform for the investors to get their money back. This should mean higher investment in the players to get better results and get bums on seats.

A better team wouldn’t increase gates by that many. I think Bournemouth ‘s ground is only around 12K

But they would easily fill a stadium twice that size. 20,000 capacity would not be unreasonable for us if we had ambitions to regularly play at Championship level.
Quite right. How little ambition some folks have. The old Manor used to regularly host crowds in excess of 10k and that was a real mess! Safety regulations later reduced the capacity to 9500. The potential is there, just needs the "experience" on offer to match the expectations of those who think a nice seat at Wembley is the norm. Modern stadium with proper facilities and a safe environment will see them attending.

A half decent match day experience, a decent L1 team/challenging for top 6, and we would average 10k, with quite a few sellout. A 15k stadium would be fine. The Kassam is such a dump, it puts lots of casual supporters off...

I would suggest most of the current fanbase has ambition but it's not them that you're trying to get to .. attend...i remember saying a few years ago that once people stop going it is hard to to get them back for various reasons..Also times have changed and there are so many other attractions all seeking the leisure pound. On top of this you have wall to wall football where whether we like it or not people can watch football from the comfort of their home

Add to that it's all very well pushing to get 10.000 for the likes of Sunderland but it's the less glamorous attraction that is needing the attention so why not trial "free" games or try under 18 "Free" or £10 for families...it's better to have bums on seats than a 1/3 to 1/2 full stadium...

it's also worth remembering that for many the match day experience involves much more than just the 90 minutes

Disappointing to see so many comments about not needing a 20k+ stadium, and making sure we have plenty of parking because we don’t want the buses to be too busy. Have some bloody ambition.
Well lets agree on 15K with room to expand to 20. It has to be accessible without a car, somewhere like Chalgrove is hopeless, and ideally a place that people will pass and see regularly so that their interest is stirred.

So so so trueeeeee

would be intrigued to know the whereabouts of the 5 possible sites.
a quick look on google earth and there seems to be nowhere within the city unfortunately, unless the uni will suddenly let us build on one of their many parks haha.
so that leaves us being on the outskirts somewhere or stuck in the middle of nowhere.
i’m coming round to the idea of staying put if something sensible can be sorted with kassam.
push the stands closer to the pitch and build a safe standing 4th stand for home fans would be a start.
just hope everything possible is being done though as with the clock ticking something needs to happen otherwise we’re going nowhere as a club

I think for Bournemouth, staying in the PL is far more important financially than a new stadium.

That's true because the tv money alone generates £100m a year but they could easily double their capacity and still sell out.

As they said in Field of Dreams - "build it and they will come!"
Except that 'we' have built it and except for rare occasions, they don't!
Until and unless we go up a division, I really can't see the sense in building a 20,000 seater stadium when 7,000 of us rattle about inside a 12,500 seater 90% of the time. Although you'd always want a stadium with 4 sides (!!!), surely it's not beyond the skills of architects to build a stadium that is easily , quickly and (relatively) cheaply upgradable to a larger capacity when it becomes needed. Or you end up with the 'stadium:mk' footballing experience.

Yes but they would have to spend money on the stadium which in their position would be a few year down the line to recoup that money, would the money spent on the stadium be better invested on the pitch to keep the club in the PL.

Stratfield Brake - that’s the front runner.
