Think we need to get at em from the 1st second. The fans love affair with Rooney is over, get at em, get both sets of fans on his back,
Scarlett to start. Goods probably won't go. I'd play Goodwin up front with Scarlett in middle to come thru.

To be honest, I can't see Des going with two up front, as regardless of the fact against Millwall, the short amount of time we went two up top it clearly yielded more results than we have in weeks, I don't think it's Des's style.

It's wishful thinking on my part for two up top, but I just think a team like ours needs to do all we can to unsettle defences at this level, and two up top would be a good way to do that. It clearly causes chaos at this level, as they're not used to defending against it, and we need any advantage we can get!

But if we did go two up top, I would be wary of throwing Goodwin in from the start, as he's hardly played any minutes, despite being apparently fit and on the bench for weeks, I'd keep giving him more minutes off the bench for now, while he hopefully builds up his match fitness and robustness.
As far as Goodwin starting, I agree with you. Bringing him on towards the end, which is when Plymouth as mentioned, frequently score. Giving them a big lad to deal with when they’re tired might work well for us.

Plymouth have crap away form but not too bad at home. Big performance needed if we are to win.

Not necessarily.
You don't stay up due to away points.
At the moment we are pretty close to what we need to stay up. We will need what 30 to 32 points from 28 games to stay up. So just over a point per game.
We could replicate what we have done to date , but need an extra couple of points on top.
We will need to do better away, but an away points total is not relevant?
I disagree the statistics suggest over last 15 years we need to win 3 away games & draws many others ,I think this is an important part of surviving .If we lose the majority and pick up a few draws we will finish bottom of the table .
However you evaluate away form it's a very important factor .

We’re already on course to stay up pointswise, it doesn’t matter if we lose every away game if we pick up enough at home. Obviously it would be better to spread the load and win a few away.

If we lose the remaining away games we will be relegated .
We have 13 home games left and we need to win 10 to stay up .That's a massive ask at this level .
Like I said the away form will be the vital part of the jigsaw to staying in this league .

Wonder what the worst away record of any team staying up is. Surely someone has done it without a win, but fewest points?
Any stattos about?

Impossible to say at this stage, but having played 10 at home and just 8 away, it's not as clear cut as 'keep doing what we've done'.

So far, our 10 home games have been a fair mix in terms of quality of opposition (5 of the current top half and 5 of the current bottom half), whereas our 8 away games have been a bit tougher by and large (5 current top half outfits and only 3 current bottom half).

So in many ways, a fairer assement of where we are (and what we're on course to do) will come after Loftus Road - when we can say we've played not only an even split of home/away but also a fair mix of quality for both too.

And we'll be anywhere from 18 to 24 points after those 20 games - which over a 46 game season is the range from 41 to 55 points (so anywhere from bottom to comfortably staying up).

These are two massive away games that will tell us a lot about where we are this season...

Off to polperro for a long weekend so clearing off for the afternoon with a mate to the game, first away game of the season for me.

Heard rumours that Plymouth are a pretty small team, and that seems to be born out looking at the statistics. The new Spanish CB they signed in the summer is 5'10''!

Feels like a game where we could have a big physical edge.

We've been passing the ball so poorly lately that I wonder if this is more of a game to put football philosophies to one side, get some of our bigger units on the field (Goodwin? Phillips?) and play a more direct style to try and unsettle them from the start.......
Get Gregly in the box for some athletic headers.

Worth keeping an eye on the forecast.

Potentially some wild and woolly weather for the south of England on Saturday.
There’s a yellow warning of wind and rain through to Sunday, 60 mph gusts, keeping an eye on the forecast and PAFC X account for this one.
Just waiting for the usual ‘it’s just a bit of a breeze what’s wrong with people’ comments to appear…

Well I was just looking at it in basic maths terms, we’re currently on a point a game and we probably only need to improve that by two or three to stay up.
