Quite seriously, I was wondering last night whether Manning might’ve been inclined to change his mind about withdrawing his interest - and whether the club would be prepared to offer an olive branch. Lewis Price could possibly be acting as a mediator.
On the same basis I thought Bloomfield would be better than Sheehan for being a known quantity, I think the same of Manning on a heightened level. We know what he is, we know what he expects and better yet, he knows what it’s like working for the club, which is not a breeze.

It skips the GTKY transition that I don’t think we have much time for. The bulk of the players here know what to expect and whilst the football won’t be glamorous, it will be lots of other good things. I think it’s a great hire if it happens for this season and next, wherever we find ourselves.

People will obsess over his exit again but it serves absolutely no benefit. It’s gone. Any sane mind can rationalise his departure and we all make mistakes - his was a few goodbyes, but otherwise set us off perfectly on the journey to get here. We have to get behind whoever it is, and this will really test the people who preach that hardest to follow their own mantra.

It’s a big yes from me. Cue Bloomfield’s announcement.

There is now a bit of security with Manning, I mean where’s he going from us ? No Championship club with ambitions of the PL is going to realistically touch him after the Norwich debacle, albeit the decent job he did at Bristol. That leaves other less ambitious Championship clubs, who we should be able to compete with on most levels, or top end L1 who again we should match. I don’t really see where he could be tempted away to, once bitten twice shy as they say.

Going on record now to say i would be happy with Manning. Kept us up once and hes the one available manager that on paper looks the right choice for a club in our position.
I will go on record now and say I will lose my s**t if Manning comes back and mentions 'behaviours' in any of his first 3 interviews.

I'd be ok with Manning, but worry that a decent proportion of the fanbase will not.

Not a particularly inspiring choice though.

How many of the players date back to his time? Long, Brown, Brannagan, Harris, Leigh, Goodrham is all I can think of.

That’s a relief, he’s promised to do it in his 4th.

That’s after playing tip tappy boring football across the backline during his first game in charge.

I’ll be so unimpressed if he rocks up here again. Norwich were awful until he was replaced, I just can’t see how we’d entertain his appointment for a number of reasons.

If he keeps us up he’ll be a hero though, until he goes back to Bristol City again!

I wouldn't know if he had as I won't be listening to his interviews (assuming he comes back). Nothing to do with him walking out the first time, more that I can waste my life in more productive ways with that time.

For all the complaints made on here about his interviews and the snakes/chants made toward him at Bristol city, it sure is strange that there is now a sudden love for this appointment.

Embarrassing really.
I can only put it down to the fact that people know Manning and will accept his lack of loyalty because he is a competent manager where as if we appoint Sheehan or Bloomfield there is no telling what they might be like.

For me, I don't like Manning and will find it hard to fully get behind him if he rocks up here again. I also found his football boring to watch.

Right, to sum up today, first a PowerPoint presentation of potential new players is leaked, then Manning becomes favourite for the job... Surely the two can't be linked...
Would be a hell of a twist if that was actually a page out of Mannings PowerPoint, the addition of stars and colours make me doubt it though, far too exuberant for him.

Essentially it’s like getting back with an ex who cheated on you but you don’t have to worry about her doing it again because words got out she isn’t much good?

Story to tell the grandkids I suppose, even if you can’t be certain they are yours.

Maybe he’s been on a training course.

The biggest issue for me is how many of our long standing players/potential transfers are going to respond to him given his reputation for zero loyalty and the way he left the club in 2023.

Steve, I’m amazed at how deeply it cuts you when you’re nowhere near the bloke. Anything could’ve happened that meant he couldn’t give the players a cuddle on his way out. Frankly, I don’t know and don’t care. It’s a transactional business that I’m sure the players understand (and if not, I’d tell them to grow up). The way he’s been bastardised for taking a bigger opportunity on more money and doing so in a maybe-too-cold fashion is mental. Especially when you consider who he was working for that has gone on to make a number of errors at the cost of managers - can we honestly sit here and say he was wrong to go??

Have you considered that IF the club are looking to get him back, that perhaps it a) wasn’t that bad or b) nobody cared or took it as deeply as you have.

At least manning is more experienced than the other two being mentioned. What happened at Norwich is the only blip on his career to be fair to him. If it is him then it’s a brave decision more from him than the club itself.

Player's are generally selfish themselves, it might be more of an issue with people like Brannagan, Long and Short.
