Crofts and McCarthy were interviewed prior to Des' appointment. Interesting that we very much seem to have a live list of names that we revisit regardless of situation.

When you consider Des was appointed 2 years ago, and how many jobs have become available in that time, it does seem a bit odd that two young, well regarded PL coaches, obviously keen for a managerial role, are still waiting for a chance. Especially when you think of cases like Mousinho - a L1 coach - getting the opportunity at Pompey and succeeding. The more you look at that appointment the more impressive Pompeys foresight appears. Imagine the meltdown if we appointed a relatively unknown coach from a L1 side with not even one game as a caretaker to his name !!!!

Wouldn’t be that angry if he comes back, I’d rather him over Sheehan for example.

Lots of things may have changed his outlook like the death of his son.

Pissed me off at the time how he left but that was partly our fault for still having him on a rolling contract
