I would like to see Tony Mowbray get the job a manager that has been there done that and got the T shirt. He could steady the ship and get us up the table

You could well have started a debate that will go on for a couple of days before Tony Mowbray distances himself from the Oxford City job live on Facebook (I feel as an older candidate it will be Facebook, Neil Warnock will do it on MySpace so if anyone still has access keep an eye out).

Personally, I don’t think a 62 year old who has thankfully recovered from a very serious illness and who was sacked from his last job after three months fits the bell. Let’s go for a young ambitious coach who has succeeded as a deputy or a top man in a lower league. Skubala sounds as if he might fit the bill.

Has anyone else listened to the Oxford guy on Radio 5 live 909 Chris Sutton show yesterday. Second from last caller. Please don’t let it be anyone from on here as I’ve never heard so much dross on the radio. Our marketing department should be asking the BBC for that recording to be expunged! Some people shouldn’t be allowed a phone………

Thought the very same thing myself. I've always wanted to hear someone erudite and articulate go on to 606 and represent our club well.

The wait continues.

I totally disagree.
Of course people want to be entertained, bit look at the crowds if we lose every week.
When we were in the Top Division, in yhe final season we wfnt down easily. Many of those games were entertaining, but we were outclassed
Rix took over from Atkins. His teams were far more entertaining, but rubbish. Crowds dropped off.
People want to see entertaining football, but definitely wsnt to see results.
Southampton could have scored 4 on a good day yesterday. Had we lost 4 2 and been 23rd at thr end of the day people on here would have been far less happy.
Not sure about you, but I suspect that most are far happier on a weekend where we win rather than lose entertainingly

Look at the crowds at home this season and I mean bums on seats not tickets sold. The majority of families attending want entertainment not Rowett style where we claim we were competitive as we only lost by 1 goal for being negative.

There is no reason why we can't find something in the middle where we stay up by playing some decent football at the same time.

Good points..

I’m not averse to JT coming in, particularly if someone experienced came in alongside him. Probably a non starter but would Dean Smith be happy as a number 2, roles reversed and unlikely but that could be quite exciting.

I would have thought JT would be quite inspiring, particularly from a players perspective.

With characters like JT I think it partially comes down to how much they really want it. You’ve got characters like Jody Morris (@ Swindon) and Rooney who if you believe the whispers did not really put the hours in and dedicate themselves to the role. Whereas Lampard is the opposite, a real grafter.

Who knows with JT? It’s one thing wanting to be a manager, is he up for the daily grind of it?
John Terry is toxic. His agent has been punting him to club owners for several years. I know a couple of people who've come across him outside football. Very consistent feedback. Not someone I'd want associated with the club, and certainly not as manager.

Yes totally agree - toxic.

The guy on 606 was Hugh who often contributes to Wasn't at the game'

Hopefully it wasn’t the same bloke on RO who said he’d like to see a front two ‘of Lankshear and Sparky’.

What did he say?

It was past it as soon as Danny Baker stopped presenting it.
Agreed, what used to be an amusing, wry look at football has evolved into the worst sort of phone-in - one where a ‘lifelong Man United’ fan from Kent, who has never been to a match, is given 10 minutes to discuss Amorim’s tactical short comings. Oh, and the presenters are idiots.

Oh I don't disagree.
What I was commenting on was the suggestion that it doesn't matter if we go down so long as there is entertainment
Which us nonsense.
Of course we all want entertaining winning football. And in the Championship, a bit of both. But many many of us do not want us to be relegated

Horrendous that.

Don’t always agree with you Dick but this type of comment I find baffling.

It’s taken 25 years to get back into the Championship, it’s not going to be easy, it’s more than likely going to be a slog, but we’re in one of the most exciting leagues in the world coming up against some top, top clubs on a regular basis, visiting some amazing stadiums with atmospheres to match, embrace it.

Go down and we’re absolutely not guaranteed a quick return, fancy another 25 year wait?

But no, let’s welcome Accrington Stanley to our new half full stadium, hey we played some pretty football, and won 4-0, that postmatch pint tastes a bit sweeter, might make into the playoffs with a bit of luck, but at least we don’t have to deal with losing to Leeds United twice in a season.

We expect our players to put in 100% effort and play for the shirt, but we as fans decide to throw in the towel when performances and results get a bit sticky.
Unfortunately some of our fan base don’t have the minerals for a dog fight and a few years scraping.
If you want guaranteed entertainment then go and watch Arsenal or Man City. Being a football fan isn’t always sunshine and rainbows!

No it isn’t, but I’d rather watch us having a go then sitting around waiting to have our tummy tickled.

That’s what we were doing under rowett this season, Boxing Day was chalk and cheese.

Actually disagree about that.

The Premiership games I have watched seem reasonably dire unless it is a lower table clash.
