In a sense I'm almost less concerned with who and more concerned with when. A quicker appointment shows that GR being sacked was a proactive process, driven by us, with a clear target in mind and a fully formed plan for January to go with it. It won't be someone in a role with that in mind, and likely a 'project' type young development manager, which is fine with me.

Why are people on about John Terry anyway? Might just as well (just to pick another "golden generation" type player who won almost as much as Terry) mention say Ashley Cole. Why not add all of England's 2010 world cup squad to the poll? Seems a bit random to me. I'd far rather we looked at people based on coaching and tactical abilities, even if they are a complete unknown.

There’s a bloke behind me at games who has never shut up about Robinson since we sacked him, every manager since lacks something in comparison. This about a manager without a tangible achievement who had to be fired after his midlife crisis had us in the thick of a relegation battle, some people bought in hard to the crap that he spouted.
Ive never understood the continuous love in some of our fans have for Robinson, I just find it bizarre.

We have just sacked a bloke who has made a living out of getting teams to over achieve in the championship, he did it brilliantly for us last season, not so good this season. They want to replace him with Robinson who had us heading full speed with no brakes to league 2, I think his last two games we were beaten by Cambridge who hadnt won for 20 plus games and then Bristol Rovers who hadnt won in 10, Thats some going and not in a good way! His one season in the championship ended in relegation, his record against top 6 league one sides was abysmal.

Anyone know if there were any interesting individuals in the directors box yesterday?

I wouldnt mind too much if it were Terry. You can certainly make a case for him being a good option.

We probably need a motivational leader over an experienced tactician at this stage. Its also why someone like Robbie Savage would probably be quote effective too.

I understand fully why fans would be apprehensive, but these kinds of names and personalities might be just what we need.

John Terry NO WAY. We want someone who has experience of the Championship where we want to stay.
Do we? Norwich went with a manager with no Championship experience and he’s doing ok. Swansea were in the relegation zone when they hired Vitor Matos and then won 3 games. Sheff Wed did ok when they hired Rohl.

If they’re both experienced and available to us then there’s likely a reason for that. Just get the best Head Coach we can

EDIT: Terry has also won promotion out of the Championship as an Assistant fairly recently

As an aside it was interesting to listen to Craig Short, a very good experienced top level player with plenty of coaching experience too and yet clearly finds the reality of being the number 1 as very stressful, it’s certainly not for everyone. I admire the fact he knows and acknowledges his limitations, plenty of others in life don’t, how many people do we know who are in positions way above their level of skill and competence?
Most politicians for a start.

But he did survive five years, made the playoffs a couple of times played great football and scored lots of goals, just saying.

After his 5 years I can not think of one area where he left us better off than when he joined. If he had stayed we would have been back in league 2 and all the decent work done under Appleton would have been reversed or worse. Is that okay because we could beat Burton 4-0?

Kompany did alright at Burnley. No championship experience whatsoever. Top PL centre back succeeds in the Championship, yeah what could possibly go right by appointing Terry.
The point is it's a gamble. You might strike lucky, but I'd rather we relied on something other than hoping to get lucky during this hiring process.

I wouldn’t argue that his last season was a disaster.

I appreciate his last year was awful.
But in a time where people suggest that they simply want to be entertained, I think it churlish for anybody suggesting that we didn't have some fantastic times under KR.
Some of the amazing cup games, scoring 100 goals what 2 seasons in a row?
Listen to the Matt Taylor episode of Behind the Badge and say you didn't enjoy an awful lot of the games.
I.think that wanting KR back is a bit daft, but to suggest that in a number of years , simply because the position we were in when he left compared to when he joined means that he did nothing is equally daft and joyless

Some of the criticism on KR is unfair.

Yes, he had an appalling last season and rambled more than ever, but for most of his tenure he made us very competitive while playing excellent football.

It’s probably right that he doesn’t return, but I don’t feel it’s justified to say those that liked him are ‘brain damaged’.

Can we just drop we need a manager that has experience of this league, we have just sacked one of the most experienced managers at this level. It wasn’t working for whatever reason but I still stand of the opinion that the league has evolved and even with more money a Rowett team will never be that affective.

What we need is a coach with new ideas and one that wants to play an attacking brand to get fans off their seat like that second half yesterday.
