You would have hoped the club would have seen this as a possibility and would have done ground work prior to the sacking
Well with the years of experience that the whole of the management seem to have as their mantra regarding anything…not a chance

You would hope someone is lined up and, as seems to be normal these days, will watch the game from the stand today and then be announced tomorrow or Sunday ahead of being in charge Monday night.

You wouldn’t want your first game to be a tough away day at Ipswich or Sheffield Utd surely. I can’t see them trusting Short with more than a game or two.

Taking one point from the Swansea, Blackburn, PNE and Charlton matches really was extremely dismal ....next four fixtures extremely tough with the pressure to beat Swansea on so much now.
Obviously a win today would be amazing but those results/ performances were shocking and leaves us with a very real chance of being adrift needing snookers !!

That pretty much hits the nail on the head regarding why GR was sacked. One point from winnable games was poor. Five or six points would have kept the wolf from the door. But you just couldn’t see where the next win was coming from.

I would be amazed if the club wasn’t exploring options before they sacked him. However….
I'm pretty sure we've been exploring options for months. There will still be interviews to do but we won't have gone into this blind and we can't afford to spend too long getting the new man in or we risk being cut adrift.

It was said at one time that the recruitment team always has a list of players for each position as well as a list of potential head coaches.
So yes, the club should be now be well along the way to having their person.

False equivalence. Terry isn't (as far as we know) a criminal who has served his time and repaid his debt to society (or was about to, in Chapman's case). We're taking about some bloke who has been found guilty of using racist language and who also has a string of other dodgy accusations against him. I wouldn't touch him with a shitty bargepole
Agree but I would go further. The moronic argument from EC Yellow seems to be that just because our club (under completely different owners) made bad decisions to support players with serious criminal records that we should carry on making bad decisions under a new owner and board by considering a known racist as a manager. Unbelievable!

Well that's all very well, but there are two sides to every transaction. Just because the club might have a list of potential replacements doesn't mean that those on the list are going to just turn up ready to go. Like with all the transfer window threads, this is much more complicated than Football Manager or whatever

Well of course it is
But I would suspect that for a couple of weeks ( at least), the club will have been sounding out potential replacements.
GR came in pretty quickly after Des went and personally I would be surprised if somebody isn't announced in the next week or so.

If TalkSPORT are right and John O’Shea is in the frame then I’m sorry but that’s not a name - if you’re the decision makers - that you suddenly pluck out of the air within a day or two of sacking your current boss. That’s quite an obscure pick and one that sounds as though we’ve done our homework well in advance of sacking Rowett - if true of course. The out of work Mowbrays, Mannings and Beales, with bags of Championship experience, are the easy options to link us with. We are now nearly a week on from the Charlton defeat when I imagines mind would have already been made up and the sacking of Rowett a formality, I’d hazard a guess that we are some considerable way down the road of announcing his replacement.

If it is Terry then we should be better at set pieces. Please for the love of god stop the zonal marking!

Would be respected straight away despite not having and manager experinece.

Still a big big risk.

Respected for what, in a manager capacity ?
