I wonder if Manning regrets skipping off the way he did? If he'd handled his exit with even a modicum of class, he'd be a genuine candidate now. A short statement ('thank you for the opportunity ..great club...brilliant supporters' etc) would have done it. He's learning the hard way that job hopping often kills a career.
His exits from us and City were not handled well especially with the backing he received at both clubs. He was very fortunate to be given an opportunity with us after the shambolic end to his Dons tenure, but I think he was a very ambitious manager who wanted to get to the top, not through earned success but by any better and bigger opportunities that came his way. Now he's unemployed, he may have a very different outlook on how ruthless football can be and not to take things for granted. There are not many jobs available right now and there may be not many for the rest of the season so he should think carefully about restarting his career and how he proceeds when he finally gets a role.

I would not be surprised if he is a big consideration here regardless of how he left but he will have to learn that you can't just up sticks and leave at any given opportunity.

Winning enough games at this level not being one of them though.

If he had won enough games he wouldn’t be out of a job so wouldn’t be in the discussion.

He would have an achievable goal here, that place just outside the relegation zone, whereas Southampton were never going to accept anything other than promotion challenging, which was to big an ask for a novice in his first job in England, especially with the season Southampton had previously. Then he could grow with us.

We have to accept we are not getting the perfect manager CV, we need to look a bit beyond the CV to the person behind it and pick someone who wants to be here and grow with the club, not certain that was Rowett.

Most football supporters outside of us all of said its a bad move its harsh
2 things on that
1. These very same people say rowett football is shite.
2. They haven't watched us this season

4 wins in 22
1 win in last 9 with 4 of those games we really should of at least attempted to win

Don't care who your manager is that record will get your board reaching for the sack button
Even more so with the transfer window about to open

If Manning says sorry and means it, I wouldn't be adverse to him returning. Did well at Bristol City and would've learnt from his time at Norwich.

At halftime on Boxing day? We can cheer if we think it’s sincere, boo if not, whichever is loudest decides the outcome.

Are you being serious? - Correct my ignorance but I’m sure we are only halfway through this season and all to play for - ridiculous comment that
I don't see us being able to get someone in in time to have any window influence so it is the same old problems compounding without any indication of things being better. Yes to an extent rowett couldn't get a tune out of the players regularly, but cant see who could

Dembele like so many was doing fine and then Rowett dropped him. The only difference he couldn't get back into contention so it may have hit him worse. I felt Gary dropped too many players without reason or froze them out for periods and then brought them back randomly. Goodrham and Luke Harris have been recent examples.
There was a reason, it was for off field issues.

How about this tune; actually starting by playing our most attacking players from the off, trying to actually win games, while tightening up at the back? Reckon a lot of managers could give that a bash…

Id like Mousinho if we could have anyone!

I think if he hadnt left just before KR got the bullet he would have been our manager then and possibly still now.
He’s not doing a lot at Portsmouth, Jammo for me ,still playing knows the club inside out , IMG_0475.png

Wagner, Carrick or Terry for me. If we are looking a bit left field then Jens Askou is doing one heck of a job at Motherwell - 3rd in the league, lot of draws but very hard to beat. Play a fast dynamic brand of football too. He played in the championships so not totally unfamiliar with the league. Any of the first three I mention would be dream appointments but wouldn’t be disheartened with someone like Askou.

Wagner maybe. Carrick had a decent budget, is he good enough to do it on a comparative shoestring? Not John Terry, it'll be akin to hiring Rooney I think.
