Media Poor Media Dept

The only time I’ve gone into a match report is to find the 50/50 number. I’d rather find fans opinions of the game than a generic report spouted out by the club for a match I’ve seen with my own eyes, it doesn’t offer me anything.
 
Chris Williams' content was arguably a bit GCSE media studies, but you could see he was passionate about it and was keen to do a good job and spread some enthusiasm (his new signing interviews were extremely leading and the same each time, mind). The new team are far more professional, particularly when it comes to social media snippets during games, standard of video editing, and audio quality.

But Chris clearly put his heart into it, and his post match reports (that he clearly was typing as the match was still being played, given the occasional reference to having to make a last minute change to his report due to injury time goals) are something that I really miss, especially as an exile. Written in a jovial way, rather than formally, with his own opinions thrown in there and details such as attendances.

And I do miss certain aspects of the Preview Show, particularly that peculiar man who told us facts about previous fixtures. He seemed like a nice chap.

I liked Chris but he was very different to Ryan (both good in different ways).

Although there was that one Christmas video with some poor person dressed as the Grinch hassling the players which felt like a fever dream.

Chris has a degree in English and taught English as a foreign language prior to taking the job with us.

That was Martin Brodetsky. I'm sure he'd agree he is somewhat peculiar. Definitely a nice chap - one of the best. Also... lifelong fan, former programme editor and official club historian, author of several books on the club and stato in chief of Rage Online. A fine writer and editor who would reply personally and with care to every email or letter he received. Dumped in late 2024 with barely a mention let alone a proper goodbye. The way Martin was treated tells you everything you need to know about Benson and his cronies.

I really rate this. Crawley don’t matter in the scheme of things. If we aren’t going to bother having any Directors attend to welcome them into our home I certainly wouldn’t bother telling the announcer to learn any of their names.

Ryan was there last night, sat amongst the media team (or was when I spotted him). I feel for him a bit, was told the media team are a bit lost without containers to video and photo. I'd say give him a break and understand they've got a tough gig at the moment.

I joked last night (as the opening poster was correct about no staff in the Directors Box) if Aaron or Ryan were in charge of opening and locking up the Kassam. Felt all a bit like you'd expect at Crowmarsh FC.
 
Both Chris & Martin were there for the fans/supporters. Mrs L and self would regularly bump into them at away matches (and occasionally at home games) and they always made time to talk and have a bit of banter.
Perhaps I am one of the old farts but, I appreciate grammar and the use of vocabulary and that has been lacking for some time now.

No programme last night but I've been told that they are being produced this season (we shall see, I guess)

I don't know mate. I'm usually impressed with the work of Ryan and the team. Interviews are good, campaigns are good and there are lots of great local links (the Mani interview around the shirt). At the moment things are uncertain, people are on holiday - I'm very prepared to give them all a break to be honest.

I’m not saying they haven’t done good work in the past. But no interview with our new manager after a home game, even if it was a PSF!
