Crazy that in our current situation, no directors were at the game last night. But what’s worse is Crawley managed to post a 10 minute interview on you tube already. Also several independent vlogers have posted edited videos about the game. But OUFC official haven’t managed anything on you tube. All I can see is the goals on insta. p**s poor

I don't know mate. I'm usually impressed with the work of Ryan and the team. Interviews are good, campaigns are good and there are lots of great local links (the Mani interview around the shirt). At the moment things are uncertain, people are on holiday - I'm very prepared to give them all a break to be honest.

I'm afraid the days of Chris Williams posting his match report 5 minutes after final whistle are long gone. We are no longer deemed worthy of any such coverage.
I liked Chris but he was very different to Ryan (both good in different ways).

Although there was that one Christmas video with some poor person dressed as the Grinch hassling the players which felt like a fever dream.

The media team has been exceptional since they joined and to make a dig at them because they had a single slow content day during preseason is nothing other than absurd.

As for Chris Williams - his interview style was boring and generic and he didn’t create anything close to the current standard that we’ve been receiving over the last few years.

I’ll always be extremely grateful for how well our promotion celebrations were captured amongst many other things.

I dont know if Ryan is behind the shirt launches but the media around that - the Ashmolean one, the Blenheim one and now the art one have been bob on. We live in an incredible global city / county - we should be using the area and the people like this.

I am not keen on the shaky vertical format phone videos where you can actually see the square root of f-all. Someone give them a proper landscape format camera and a tripod - I have both and would lend them to them if they have sold their old equipment at a boot sale.

That’s probably because Chris didn’t have to worry about numerous other content related tasks.

I’d rather wait for something created to a much higher standard than listen to a generic and predictable Chris Williams interview.

I completely agree. They’ve really developed a strong brand identity for OUFC and I’ve enjoyed seeing us use the Oxford landscape in the marketing campaigns.

Having met Ryan when my boys were involved in a club video, he's a great bloke and I think has overseen a marked increase in the quality of output from a social media and campaigns perspective in recent years - even a cynic like me can appreciate that.

Do we ever get that much stuff around PSFs? Or are we all just desperate for "something" and so getting a bit worked up over stuff that we wouldn't normally care too much about because it's all just another part of the current vacuum?

Kind of related but whoever did the tannoy announcements last night was different to usual. They also got a few of the names wrong or at least different to how they normally are pronounced. Ciaron Browns first name was pronounced weird. And no idea what he tried to say with Emakhus name!

And the match reports on the official site are illiterate! Bring back Chris Williams and Martin B.
I kind of have to agree, they are scattered all over the place - a very odd way of writing.

The official report from last night contains all the key information, but it reads like an unedited first draft. Grammatical errors, awkward phrasing, repetition and overloaded sentences interrupt the flow, and my head can't cope!

As much as we bemoan AI-written content (EG: The Fail) I just pasted last nights report into my Custom GPT, and it gave me something significantly easier to digest.

Regarding Tannoy. I suspect Nathan Cooper is on his summer holidays with his daughter, as its a tight window between schools finishing and the season starting.

The media stuff is OK these days and I like the way they 're using locations around the city. But I also follow City and their stuff is at least as good, with similar city locations, and better coverage of friendlies.

Nathan never does pre seasons, I will never forget the Geordie announcing Malaci Napa :)

Why wouldn't they? Are you trying to make some kind of excuse for poor-quality content? I could do a lot better, but I'm too lazy to go to away games.
Well I for one haven’t read an actual match report on the OWS for a good few years now.

Does Ryan work directly for the club or is he an independent media guy?

I don't know, but I have liked a lot of the club output over last couple of years apart from the fawning uni related crap..

But it's not really our media guys fault if directors are not there or they are not being engaged to create content for the club.

Overall its been good.

There was one of him and seven of them now

Agree, highlights, interviews on YT and a few snaps from the match on the gram.
If you didn't go to the game you can't get an idea of what happened from a few highlights and someone saying 'yeah the boys dun good know what I mean?' Anyway, whether you read it or not is irrelevant.

I'm pleased you found my contribution to the discussion useful.

I don't find I'm missing out by not reading it, but that's me.

When Crawley brought on 7 subs at once, the announcer just said 'Crawley Town are making a raft of substitutions' :)
