In the end I voted for James Henry.

Rob Dickie a close second.

Just a note on A Rod (Gorrin). Before he arrived he'd played in New Zealand, Romania and only 20 games in Scotland. When he arrived it felt like he was a make-weight in the deal to get Chris Cadden and was a bit underwhelming in the early stages of our summer transfer business.

But he has been phenomenal and by doing the ugly parts of the game so well, he allows others to look good. Not only does he deserve huge credit, but so does our recruitment team and everyone behind the scenes who have allowed him to settle.

When we are able to bring players like this on free transfers then things are pretty good.

Good on him - he’s had a cracking season and has come on leaps and bounds. Was good value for that just for his Cruyff turn / nutmeg combo at Sunderland on the opening day.

It will certainly be a fitting way to top this season for Rob Dickie to lift the playoff trophy in a couple of weeks and lead us into the Championship. He is far too good for league one, and wouldn't look out of place at the high end of the Championship or the PL, and we will do well to hold on to him. But maybe we should be thankful that we get to see some of the next generation of stars starting at Oxford, and have faith that in Elliott Moore and Rob Atkinson we already have others ready to step up.
