Player of the season

Alot could happen in final games and maybe CB or Long wins the season for us over last games
That is a fair point though, we still have just under ⅛ of the season still to go, so still the opportunity for a player to stand out far more than they already have. Perhaps the voting should have been kept for later on. I always think it's a bit odd having season awards before the final game. For example, Harris got too scorer last year, only for Gregli to catch up with him. Had Greg scored a 2nd, he would have overtaken him and won the prize outright.

I get why people are saying Mills due to his recent performances but he wasn’t that great in the first half of the season.
For me Long, Brannagan and Lankshear have been consistent performers all season.
Although I included Mills in my top 3, I do feel that there is a lot of recency bias in people proclaiming him the obvious winner. Other players have been more consistent across the season. I would add Brown to the list.

BDK was generally decent 1st half of the season, if memory serves Bran had more than a few poor games first half of the season( suicidal back passes and injury lay off too ) Currie would,, for me ,feature if he hadnt had so many injuries, agree Stan Mills wasnt great first part of the season, though hes been rather good since January, Sam Long and Will Lankshear , for me, have been delivering consistently all season

I don't think any of out players have been consistent, that is one of the reason why we are second from bottom (bottom if you exclude an absolute basket case who might as well not have been in the league this season) and in with areal chance of going down. Seems unfair to score Mills down on that when every other player is exactly the same. Its a long season and very few will be at it for 46 games, Mills wasn't a favourite of Rowett, but its becoming clear that he is not the greatest judge now, he has shone since a coach who obviously rates him has come in.

I like Sam Long, worth a squad place and happy he got a new deal, but the idea he has been consistent when he has struggled as much as the others is letting him off with setting the bar lower for him than others, although if we go down Long getting player of the season would probably be fair enough, I think someone getting it for obvious effort and attitude rather than actual quality is the mark of a relegation side.

But if Mills has turned it on at the right time, especially as a youngster growing into the game, to keep us up then he will deserve to win it comfortably. He is the one player who if they got injured I would just concede relegation, we have no one else capable of and actually doing what he is at the moment, just he can do it for a few more games.

I actually think it’s curiously tight this season. We’ve been inconsistent for sure, and pretty much in the relegation zone all season - but we’ve also rarely been beaten heavily, are always competitive and always quite combative and hard to beat in games.

I can see the arguments for Long (consistent, reliable, arguably playing as well as he ever has), Mills (ending the season as our most dangerous and improved player), Lankshear (top goalscorer), Brannagan (still the heartbeat of the team, strong goal return again from midfield). Even De Keersmaecker was very very good up until his injury and by far our best player, carrying the team at times and providing some crucial assists - albeit ran into the ground in the autumn when Cam was injured and never really recovered.

It doesn’t feel like there is a standout candidate. But the fact that there are four or five who are genuine contenders shows just how close to being a decent Championship side we are. If we can just cling on this season and strengthen again. If…

Whoever scores the 91st minute winner against Millwall to keep us up should win it.

Personally, it's Sam Long for me. Also a word for Will Vaulks, who has just received another award for his work and is an absolute ambassador of the club.

Mills a shoo-in for young player (but not sure what the age cut off is?)

Have we been relegated then 🤔???

Jesus u post some utter garbage .

Why do you even bother ????
He bothers because people like you keep biting. Actually quite amusing how often people snap.

Let's not give up, but it definitely is a possibility, so it's not a wild assumption on his part.

It really does feel like two seasons within a season with our form up until December then a bit of a refresh in January. If you had told me in December that Mills would be in with a shout of POTS I wouldn't have believed you. I think whoever wins it it will based on their form at the end of the season rather than what came before.

Long - I don't personally feel he's been as consistent this season as he was last, certainly higher highs and lower lows. Some of those highs have been stand out though.
Brannagan - Was so obviously struggling at the start of the season and was forced to play due to our lack of depth, back to his best with a proper midfielder next to him.
Mills - The stand out choice for the second half of the season, he was brilliant on Monday and has really come to the fore.
Lankshear - Scored some huge goals and just gets it, especially for a loanee, but I think our reliance on him says more about us than him. Definitely deserves some recognition.
Currie - Probably not played enough across the season to be considered, like Long has been up and down but looks to be one of our prized assets, says a lot if a player who's played less than 75% our of games wins our POTS.

I'd like to think Helik is in with a shout especially if we stay up, he's been colossal since coming back in after his shaky start (where he become a bit of scapegoat IMO)

Don't think you could argue against Mills or Lankshear getting it.

youngest granddaughter isnt on YF , if she was her vote for PoS , she tells me, would be for Tyler Goodrham ( even though hes been out for half the season)

Her reason - ' He's so cute'
To be fair, I think that's why a lot of grown men seem to like him too.

Shame Stuart Findlay isn't in the vote, with Hearts top of the SPL and he's scored several vital goals. I expect an announcement about his new contract imminently

I’m not scoring him down, he’s in my top three, I’m simply saying that he is not the ONLY candidate as some have suggested.
My use of “consistent” might have been an overstatement though.

That’s fair enough, although as they say timing is everything and he has certainly timed it right.

I think both Currie and Long have been very good in patches but POTY is generally about the player who delivers week in week out, not two good months and then a crap one. Mills hasn't shone every single game but totally ineffective performances from him are rare and even rarer for a winger. He's brave on the ball too, if he loses it he will have another go and another - none of this modern day winger crap (see Placheta) where they check and either come back inside or play it 15 yards backwards to the full back, as if to say 'over to you'. Any POTY should be a team player, one who takes responsibility and one who's been a half decent player across 46 games - that's Stan Mills but Brannagan will never be far away in the vote.

Forget voting for POTS - When is @SteMerritt going to add up and aggregate all of the player rating threads? That will give us a true, accurate picture of exactly how good every player has been…
I got bored of waiting for @SteMerritt to do it so we cut out the middle man with our new MOTM widget. There is also a different widget on the home page for you to search by individual player.

Just can't get the staff these days can you...

Yunus Konak.
Has settled and made a real impact on the squad and team, quicker than any loan player I can remember.

Lankshear and Brannagan consistent all season, are you smoking crack?

Brannagan made numerous errors which led to goals under Rowett and had terrible form. Lankshear also went missing quite often in games where he didn't score.
Yeah welcome to football

I get why people are saying Mills - he's been our most consistent forward since Boxing Day, and he's the guy who excites you the most when he picks up the ball......

......but also worth pointing out that despite all that, he does have less assists this season than Michal Helik! (only BDK has more)

Don't think the lack of assists are totally down to him considering the quality of crosses he's put in this season.
