With 5 games left I’d thought I’d start a player of the year thread for me it’s between lankshear mills and long with mills edging it to been a consistent threat the last few months

I think some players need removing from the poll. Why is Sibley there?

In January many were saying Currie?

Don't think Currie, as good as he's been, has played enough (25+5).

Cumming (41), Helik (37+1), Brown (32) - none have hit the heights of last season.

Long (31+4) and Brannagan (32) have (despite dodgy moments) been largely solid and reliable.

But all of the above have been overshadowed in terms of appearances, consistency, or both - by Lankshear (29+10) and Mills (24+14) - two young players who have aquitted themselves admirably throughout, both producing the goods at important times, where more seasoned professionals alongside them have failed by comparison.

There are only two realistic contenders for me - and whichever of Lankshear and Mills makes the most striking contribution in the final five games should get the nod.

Either would be a worthy winner.

How are people choosing Lankshear over Mills?

The former has gone missing in a number of games while Mills has consistently performed, even when we've been absolutely dire.

Mills is the only choice for me.

I get why people are saying Mills due to his recent performances but he wasn’t that great in the first half of the season.
For me Long, Brannagan and Lankshear have been consistent performers all season.

Lankshear and Brannagan consistent all season, are you smoking crack?

Brannagan made numerous errors which led to goals under Rowett and had terrible form. Lankshear also went missing quite often in games where he didn't score.

If Currie plays each of the last 5 games I’d probably lean towards him, but he has missed quite a lot of time and wasn’t first choice at the start of the season so that definitely holds him back

Lankshear, Cam and Mills all have been inconsistent but would probably be my next 3

@admin if voting stays like this with 3/4th place so close can it be top 4 not 3! Please
It's not a poll to put all the players in order, otherwise you might as well give everyone the option to rate the entire squad in order of preference. It's not about a tiebreaker between 3rd or 4th, it's about identifying who comes first.

Well not quite, it's about identifying a shortlist for the final vote. Originally set as top 3 go though, although if 3rd and 4th remain so close I'd have no problems making the final run-off a 4-way affair.

Why though? Currently they are neck and neck, but Long has it by just the one vote. What that means is that Long has received more votes than Brannagan, so Long goes through.

Also, given how far ahead they are compared to the next player (Currie) I doubt opening it up to 4 would do anything other than add a similarity close number of votes to each one of them.

They were level when I posted. Lot can change by the time the vote closes.

No

No top 3 go thru to final vote I read

Alot could happen in final games and maybe CB or Long wins the season for us over last games
