As I said, I copied and pasted the report direct from their emailed newsletter. Perhaps they were wrong but they claim to have 10m subscribers.

So I don’t believe they trained Friday and the BCD game was also cancelled as was the Reading one due to recovery time needed from Indonesia. That’s one way of f*****g up a whole pre seasons plan

Reading was due to be tomorrow lunchtime. Sounds like they've decided to take more players to Mansfield than initially planned rather than spread across two games. Perhaps a 60/30 approach at Mansfield.
Probably quite sensible as you can limit the minutes in those with knocks/coming back from injury.

On the flip side, if they'd brought them in anyway and/or played v Colchester and we'd picked up muscle injuries, we'd probably be slating the club for not allowing enough recovery following 3 games, especially the heavy pitch of the final game and the flights back from Indonesia.

The Pompey point is spot on, and arguably the football side of the tour will judged on the first month of the season

Not exactly - from what I heard of the interview there was some elision there so important verb structure missed out I reckon.

Clear frustration in Rowett’s post match tonight. Again, he’s referenced being behind in fitness and the knock on that has with players picking up injuries. It’s fair to assume that is off the back of the tour.

He also said it’s frustrating that the players were playing games ‘too soon’.

More clear indicators that the Indonesia tour was not a successful trip for the playing or first team management group.

Going into, what turned out to be, a highly competitive tournament, on poor pitches, off the back of less than a week’s prep. Add to that, unable to train much over there, long flights and some players going down with food poisoning apparently.

You can understand his frustration.

I'd be genuinely intrigued to see a Venn diagram between those who thought it was a success and those who don't think it's a bit off we haven't even had a token statement from our new chairman yet.

It's possible to be grateful for the money being put in but still critical of not doing the basics, or things that actively harm our chances which I think it's pretty obvious last season's tour did.

Mad to see that I voted "Yes", as I can't think of any reason why it would have been. Maybe a combination of seeing the new kit in action (minus the socks), watching Leo Snowden and thinking he would be a tasty prospect, and laughing at Gary Lionheart?

I place this alongside Ramón Diáz and co not being allowed in the ground, Julian Alsop's banana-ram-a, and the Animalates embarrassment, in the box of obscure Oxford United moments that fans will still look back on in 30 years' time and say "well that was f*****g weird, weren't it?!"

No hindsight here - and I didn't vote either way (I recall at the time thinking it was too early to call).

But that doesn't excuse those who rubber-stamped it with a 'Yes'. I don't think anyone could have comfortably done so without a massive degree of (at best) wishful thinking and (at worst) their usual tendency to assume everything the club does is good and right.

So @Joey (and @MJB) are right on this one - and those who gave their unequivocal thumbs up to something that has now been proven to be a disaster should probably reflect on that...
