Current Player Thread Peter Kioso

I thought he started poorly, with some dodgy positional play early on, then improved massively and was one of our best players for a while; then tailed off dramatically towards the end of the season, such that by the time of his final game (at Cardiff), he was a quivering, uncertain mess who had to be hauled off at halftime.

Definitely a shame because he has the physical traits, but he's not a youngster any more and he wasn't a consistent enough player at Championship level.
 
Sad he tried hard really nice guy but football is cruel wish him all the best but we need players in .
 
Good league one player but not a championship player for me, can have decent games but then be a liability. Seems a decent lad and no shame in that, can have a good career at league one level and I reckon he will.
 
With all the cash that Peterborough have earned this summer from the sales of Fernandez, Poku and Mothersille we should have insisted on a permanent deal and recouped some of our outlay.
 
Was probably our best player over the opening weeks of the season, just seemed to go consistently down hill from there unfortunately, best of luck to him
 
Shame really. I thought that at times he could be very good, but there was just no consistency - even within a game. Peterborough have lost all four of their games this season, so (for the sake of a friend of mine who supports them) maybe he can give them a bit of something at the back.

Good luck to him on his loan. From an OUFC point of view, good to have freed up a space.

Kioso’s performance at home to Cov where we lost 2-3 in March was the tipping point for me. He was abject that day.
 
He signed on a long term contract, so I assume that is at least 3 years, so he'll still have a year left after the end of this season.
I thought he was impressive in the early part of the season, but tailed off a bit towards the end.
I think it shows the step up it quality from Lge 1 to Championship.
He'll smash Lge 1, but not quite good enough for what we need right now.

My favourite game of his was Stoke away where he looked like he’d never played football in his life in the first half; got rinsed repeatedly, gave the ball away constantly, could’ve given away at least one penalty…but then came out second half and played really well out of nowhere, to the extent that you wondered if it was even the same bloke on the pitch.

The way he dealt with Murphy at Fratton last season as well spoke to what a good 1v1 defender he can be. Also thought that half at Luton where he and Kyle Edwards terrorised their defence was a glimpse into what could’ve been.

Ultimately he just wasn’t consistent enough. Rowett worked out that he just couldn’t predict which PK would show up from game to game (or even half to half). No point in having the ability to be a top fullback at this level if you only show it for 45 minutes in every five game cycle. I really like PK and if he can find some consistency he absolutely has Champ level potential in my opinion. But we don’t have the time to wait for that, and given our abundance of right backs, no need to either.

Speaking to somebody at the game on Sunday who also went to the Plymouth v Peterborough game.
He said that Kioso was Peterborough's best player ( Dale was one if Plymouth's better players).
Kioso is the Peterborough Captain and made one of their goals.

For some players it does seem that there is a big gap between the Championship and L1

I think we could add a few more of our current squad to those 2 and at the end of this season they will be gone as well. On the other side of the coin are the players who have made the step up look seamless like Cumming, Brown and Brannagan.

Kioso is a strange one for me. Wouldn’t say he had been consistently poor for us but I can see where we needed an upgrade in his position and out of him and Ter Avest it was no contest as to who would stay in that situation. Wasn’t Kioso made captain in his last spell at Peterborough?

And maybe Sam Long who continues to surprise many.

The sort of sloppiness that can easily occur in an environment where a board member can carelessly reveal months worth of transfer planning.

Donning another clubs’ colours when you’re due back to training in a week or so and should be trying to prove your worth is nothing in the grand scheme of it.
