Why has it become so commonplace to not say women/ladies team?

I'm not trying to be intentionally obtuse but it just adds to confusion, surely? I'm guessing the likes of Sky and the beeb do it under the veil of 'equality' whilst in reality just using it as a ploy to generate more clicks, but is it really so frowned upon for the general football fan to make it clear when they are talking about women's football? Would "Cecily Wellesley-Smith who's been called up for England Women's U17 World Cup Squad" have been too middle aged Dad?

I guess someone would say that you could tell by the name. But that doesn’t really work since some boys names have become girls names in recent years (e.g. Paris, Nikita) and some names are ambiguous.
It is an interesting point though. I’m sure they wouldn’t say Dave Smith has been called up to the England WC squad if it was actually the Homeless WC squad.

I thought him and Leigh were excellent last night, pace and power.

Yes, didn’t put a foot wrong last night. Leigh too. Looked a top pair of Championship full backs last night.

Completely agree with this that's close to the best I've seen both of them play defensively, especially as Derby's raison d'etre always seems to be get it out wide and sling it in the box (although less so last night than normal tbf). Kioso also got forward more than usual. Both were standouts but Kioso MOM for me.

As someone who has questioned him recently, it's only right I applaud his performance last night. He was superb defensively and his concentration on the game was excellent. Hopefully more of the same for the run-in.
