OxVox Committee Applications

Hi all

Just to confirm that the application deadline for the new OxVox committee closed at midnight last night.

We're delighted to say that there have been a number of really excellent members who've put their names forward!

Details will be emailed to members soon and obviously ahead of the AGM on Saturday 28th April. The AGM will be held at the Stadium with a 'kick off' time of 12.30.

But hey, for now, let's all just focus on getting behind our team and supporting the lads to secure those points we need!

I hope that we have a diverse range of candidates standing at the election and look forward to reading their manifestos. I think it is time for a fully open and transparent approach and the end to the secrecy that has been in evidence in the past. Members should always be informed of what’s in the pipeline and if their are candidates standing that promise this change then they will get my support. No to NDAs and secrecy of meetings.

You had your chance to change anything you didn't like, but no you would rather bleat from the sidelines.
Since it's creation, the good people at Oxvox have put a lot of their free time into trying to help this club move forward, they will always be damned if they do and damned if they don't do the right things in other peoples eyes, if people don't like what they see change it from within as it has been done in the past.

The committee is free to join you know, oh! apart from the countless hours of unpaid work you have to put in, you will also need thick skin to help from people who obviously know better but for one reason or another just can commit and help out.

All your bluster and infighting with some on this forum will count for nothing when I decide who I vote for. As long as it is a fair vote we the members will decide, that is how a democratic vote works. And this is where you have to be fair to Myles and Mark Sennett. They stood for re-election a couple of years back, they picked up a fair few votes, but they didn't get in. That to me gives them the right to comment on here about what the successful candidates have achieved since then.
The posters who love to criticise the committee but don't then stand for election have no such mandate and have become a bit of a cancer on the forum.

Can I ask, do you think the current OxVox 'management' have been more secretive and less transparent than in previous times?

By the way, we have never signed any NDA's in my time on the committee.

And if there are the same number of applicants as those stepping down, then there will be no election. That is also democracy, but I'm sure you'll find fault with it.

I mentioned on another thread that it would be useful to know the forum identities of anyone applying for the Oxvox committee so we could review their views as on here and to avoid any mis-naming. For example I thought T'ai Chi was a former chair of Oxvox - sorry if incorrect.

Hi mate

We have a committee meeting on Friday this week and then, within a few days, we'll release the names of the members who've put their names forward. We just need a few days to tie up the admin (and to be sure no one changes their mind!!).

We really do have some excellent candidates and it doesn't look as though there will be a need for an election.

We'll get all the info for the AGM to members as soon as we can.

Why not drop T'ai Chi a PM, Jem? Oh, you can't because his privacy settings won't allow it. (Ironic that he disapproves of perceived 'secrecy' amongst others).

OK then, why not have a chat with him at an upcoming match? Oh, you can't, because T'ai Chi values his own privacy, posts anonymously and and no-one else knows who he is. (Well, a few undoubtedly do, but they won't be telling ....)

How so? You could infer that the membership are happy with the current incumbents (those that are staying) and thus haven't put themselves up for election, you could infer that the whole trust membership has been seized by apathy and so cannot be bothered or you could infer that there are only a certain number of people with the time, enthusiasm and rhino-like skin required to take the job(s). I know which my money would be on, but have no way of knowing for sure!

I am not an elected official of a group whose prime role is to represent membership and therefore have a responsibility to keep their membership informed. It is of course my right to set my parameters as to how I want them to be. It is however not the right of those elected but those who are members to set such parameters.

It's not 'informative' at all. Why didn't more people want to stand? Who knows, but it would be interesting to see who wished to stand, and who didn't ....

At least nobody can say that they didn't have a chance to stand and put forward their views. It appears that they would probably have ended up on the Committee.

Were you so vocal and did you ask the old committee when they announced the RTB without any consultation of the membership and with everything done in secret?
