OXVOX AGM POSTPONED

Due to the extremely hot weather this week and the exceptional forecast for Thursday we have decided reluctantly that we must postpone our AGM.

We are looking at new dates with the club and we will notify you as soon as we can. Our apologies for this late call.

We thank James and the club for offering the training ground pavilion. The temperature there was tested last night at 6.30pm and was over 30 degrees C and safety is paramount.

We look forward to chatting in person soon and as always…..COYY

Is it worth protesting at the moment, with the stadium situation at the mo with fosb going for an oral hearing at the end of the month. Would give them another excuse to try to stop the stadium being built at the triangle???

Wasn`t me suggesting we did protest.

Been there, done that and we didn`t end up much better off........ albeit we saved the club from going under.

I certainly don't think there is anything bad enough to have a protest over right now, no. This is embargo is a short term issue and will get sorted out. What will a protest achieve? Really p**s ET off to the point where he decides to just go 'f**k it, I'll walk away completely' meaning we can kiss goodbye to the stadium which would result in having no club to support.

If this situation isn't protestable, I am curious what is.

The idea that a bit of a stink would cause him to walk feels a bit far fetched, but it might allow the owners to realise this matters to people and stop them viewing us as a simple investment.

From a short term cash injection perspective then yes. ET has plenty of money but him and his family clearly are fed up of just feeding money constantly in the playing squad with little return and want the club to start being a bit more sustainable.

That’s the story, whether it’s a true one or not we are going to find out, don’t think I am going to believe everything that the very brief press releases tell me from now on though.

A lot of it is guess work so I try and take notice of people I trust and listen to what they say.

Unfortunately it is guess work because of the lack of communication but I still wouldn’t say we are anywhere near needing a protest. OxVox have said they have a meeting pencilled in with the new chairman so let’s see whether they can put across to him how unhappy the fan base are and demand improvements.

I sometimes think that fans demand too much communication which can come from a world where social media has a massive presence and you can get instant news, however I do feel that this situation and the one around Shorty and the lack of acknowledgment about that has been really really poor.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Thohir is getting frustrated by let alone performance on the pitch but the delays and scaling down of the new stadium.

Stratfield Brake would have gone ahead years ago , let alone downscaling to the Triangle and how long that’s taken to get through.

But I don’t think this one of those times, so far we have one statement about the biggest thing to happen to the club in years, it wasn’t even a long statement, I think people who have just splashed out hundreds of pounds on season tickets have a right to a bit more detail than that.

Not really much of a protest type of man, pretty lazy myself, but I think a protest asking for answers to key questions would be fair enough.

Although as it’s July where and when you would protest is obviously problematic, I doubt the ticket office or club shop staff have much sway and they are even more concerned than we are.

Is it fair to say that the stadium situation has essentially neutered OxVox for the last few years? I would expect an independent supporters trust to be much more 'on it' holding the club's leadership to account, but I know Paul and co have been working their socks off with the club trying to get the stadium over the line - and we are now tantalisingly close....

Questions to OxVox from fans asking why they are not being more bolshy have been met with explanations that, due to the commercial sensitivities of the stadium situation, OxVox can't disclose to fans what is going on (and presumably do not want to be seen to be criticising the leadership of the club at a critical juncture).

Can this cosiness now end? I can understand not wanting to upset the ET applecart (though that horse may now have bolted), but I would have been much happier seeing individuals like Tim Williams put under much more intense pressure and scrutiny from OxVox after some of the fiascos of the last few years. OxVox could surely have done that and made it clear they are criticising the day-to-day leadership of the club, rather than the owners.

Will OxVox now come out swinging? It's clear from all the comments on here that fans are desperate to hold the club to account. If OxVox can't do that in a visible way, then what is the point of them?

Maybe OxVox does this already and don’t report on it, I’m not sure. But it’s our club, and we don’t have to be excessively respectful to those currently running it if they aren’t forthcoming with communication.
