For anyone unaware there is an Over 50's football league in Oxfordshire, this is regular football with the same rules except for rolling subs and playing 40 minutes each way.

We're on the lookout for new players and teams so if you're interested in that or just enjoy watching football then we are holding our annual Cup Final day at Abingdon Town FC on Sunday 22nd April.

Steve Hatt Memorial Cup - Goring v West Hagley (2pm kick off)
Challenge Cup Final - Hazlemere v Witney (4pm kick off)

Our league has 6 teams currently which includes Hazlemere and Marlow from up the M40 whilst our Cup competition also includes the 6 teams from the Over 50's league in Worcestershire. Plenty of ex Oxford City, Witney Town etc players and West Hagley have Jon Williams (ex Swansea & Coventry), Dean Holdsworth also plays regularly for Droitwich so the standard is alright. Each can field 3 players who are 45+ but the rest are Over 50

I'd recommend coming along and seeing for yourself as reaching 50 doesn't mean you're footballing days are over, particularly if you're not quite ready for walking football.

In addition to the above in a joint effort between our league, Oxfordshire FA and Age UK we are holding an Over 50's Football Festival (Sunday 17th June) which is open to both teams and individuals (if you don't have a team we will find you one the day), see the link above for details.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have but it would also be good to see a few people down at Abingdon Town FC a week today, bar will be open throughout and free entry.
