One topic discussed at the FAB introductory meeting that took place on 30th Sept was that the club have often found it difficult to consistently have our current club crest replicated, especially when reducing the size of it onto things such as poppy badges or having it printed in vinyl for display around the ground and training ground. It was proposed by Adam Benson that the club would like to remove the pin stripes on the current club crest, leaving just a yellow background.

The general feeling amongst FAB representatives was that most fans would actually prefer it without the pin stripes, or wouldn't be bothered enough by it to have a strong opinion on it. But we wanted to confirm this feeling before giving the club the go ahead to make the change.

A wider communication should also go out from @OxVox on this topic.

However, the original horns don't work in the crest shape - so I propsed the above - using the original ox facial features, but with the current horn shape. (a hybrid)

And like @Emilio said - I also thought UNITED looked a bit small and lost without the stripes.

I even gave Adam Benson a hi-quality vector graphic ready to use. Shame.

But the thinner lines between the facial elements will mean we have removed one printing nightmare (pin stripes) and created another.

If it's something insignificant like the pinstripes, then by all means get rid of them, but to make the lines between the facial elements on a standard size version of the crest unnaturally thick purely so they look good on a smaller rendition is a design flaw.

They could always have a 2nd version specifically for smaller replication where the lines are marginally thicker in proportionally to the facial elements, just so that they are still notable at a small size without looking odd. Companies do it all the time with logos.

They do - but can you imagine the club marketing dept being able to keep track of where which of two different versions of the logo should be used appropriately!

But why bother? The companies you talk of likely have whole teams working on branding etc. What do we have? A few of folks doing this along with their other 6 jobs?

I just don't think it's that big of an issue myself.

Presumably the updated logo is kept in a shared Google Drive/Microsoft Teams folder for them all to use. Presumably they will have a smaller dimension version for when that is needed, that they will all access. Just make sure that version has marginally thicker lines. Hardly complex.

I didn't mind that crest perse, but there's a horrid error if you check the image I posted of that particular season. The error was made on all kits (home, away, shirts, shorts), though I don't know whether it extended to other merchandise.

Some manufacturing error on Carlotti's side, you would imagin. But what makes it more weird is that we were already using the blue away kit the previous season, and there were no problems on those, so they only screwed up with the new season's batch.
 
In the Panini stickers thread I spotted they'd gone to print too early for the change.
 
Google still using the club crest that was pre-pin stripes, namely the plain bull’s head.

It's essentially a return to what they had between 77 and 92:

Yet another club trying out the return to a vintage crest theme. I've never liked the previous one, felt too much like it had been created by some marketing student for brand recognition. This seems to have gone the entirely opposite way, with a design that doesn't stand out at all. I would just think it's Brentford or Sunderland's old crest.
