I always used to think it would be great to live in a two-club city, because you could go to a match every weekend. I do go and watch Oxford City if the real Oxford don't have a game, although even if I can't get to a U's match, if the away game clashed with a City home game I'd rather stay at home and watch United on the telly. Thankfully I don't have that problem tomorrow because they're showing the Derby game on the box in the bar before City play Chester

Totally agree and it’s worrying how many also have their ‘premier league team’. It’s extremely tinpot. The same fans who often don’t attend Oxford games as their season ticket on the sofa is calling.

I have never said anything of the like. I couldn’t give a hoot where people live but I am proud to have an Oxfordshire postcode. My point is I want a loyal fanbase, but you could be from Chipping Norton in bloody New Zealand and still be a true yellow!

Won't it be a greater Oxford council by then? So administrative wise it will be. At some point in the past every ground Oxford City and Oxford United have had would have been outside the boundary, I would bet good money that the triangle (and then Kidlington later) will be within the city boundaries in a fairly short time anyway.

Yeh it possibly will be as we all know Kidlington is a suburb of Oxford like Littlemore is. Someone told me a few years back Oxford city's ground at Whitehouse road was actually in Berkshire before 1974, not sure if that was the case though as I wasn't born until the late 80's.

Don't know if the Oxfordshire/Berkshire border was that high up the Abingdon Road, Botley was part of Berkshire and Caversham part of Oxfordshire so maybe. But County boundaries change, a lot of old counties such as Berkshire are purely ceremonial now anyway, so you can expect more changes in the future with Kidlington and the other areas that surround Oxfords borders being swallowed up.

I think Farmoor is the cut off point now.
Ironically Mapledurham is in Oxfordshire even though it is a couple of miles from Reading on the A4074.

To be fair to the Tories, Oxford completely being in Oxfordshire makes more sense, as someone who lives on the Hampshire/Surrey/Berkshire border it is a bit nonsensical at times, 3 different police forces police different sides of one roundabout for instance.

Grandpont was incorporated into the city in 1889 (following the 1888 Local Government Act) and hence was brought into Oxfordshire at the same time.

How many games has Josh Ashby played for City now?!? It feels like years and years ago that we were building him up on here to be the next big thing, and he's been there ever since!

Love Ashby, one of my favourite academy graduates. Still amazed he never made it as a pro. He had all the attributes, although maybe not the ambition

There were rumours at one stage that he had opportunities in the lower leagues but had a decent job and would have been worse off ( not sure how true they were).
Ambition is really important as you suggest- look at how determined Matt Taylor was after dropping down into non league and evwn players like James Clarke.

Great to see Jodh Ashby still doing well though.

Sam Ricketts is always the one for me.

Way less talented than a bunch of his peers in what was a really quality youth system at the time, noone really batted an eyelid when Atkins let him go.......and then he went on to notch about 100 Premier League games and 50 caps for Wales!

Alfreton are at home to Curzon Ashton anything but a Curzon Ashton win would see City safe regardless as to what they do in their game. Crazy relegation battle in that league where everyone seems to be picking up wins. Shame our relegation battle as ended prematurely due to our own blame.

Small point, but it really annoys me when league tables like this say 'Oxford'. It doesn't say 'Peterborough' does it? It says 'Peterborough Sports' to differentiate them from the much bigger Peterborough United. It should do the same with Oxford City.

BBC used to do this too for City but have changed it now, thankfully.
