I maintain that Dale was a key player in our upturn in form after he joined last year. His energy, tenacity and engagement with fans was very welcome at the time. Probably the perfect player for Plymouth right now, given their relegation and poor start to the season, I imagine they're feeling a bit despondent. He's not the quickest or most skillful, and I think the top end of League 1 is his ceiling, but he was a very good professional for us and I hope he does well there.

Loved his passion and no nonsense style of play in our promotion push and was a key player in that end of season run.
Felt for him last season a bit for not getting much of a chance but hope he goes and smashes it for the Green Army.
A brilliant player at that level.

Get Owen back.
Crucial in our promotion team. For some reason just not given a chance last 2 seasons. Him and mills as our wingers would be our best combination.
So much better than Romeny. Dembelle. Placheta. Mph.
Plymouth fans love him.

I tend to agree. For league 1 he is a very good player to have in the squad.

Is his contract up this summer?

Let's not start re-writing history.

He has his upsides and is clearly a lovely guy, but waving your arms at the fans to gee them up a few times doesn't make you a player capable of getting us back in to the Championship.

So the fact that he played an integral part in getting us promoted doesn’t carry any weight? Or that he’s performing really well for Plymouth (according to a number of their fans) who are really close to the play offs? Have you forgotten how important he was to us in our promotion season?
Given how so many of our supporters are expressing reservations that our current lot may get a rude awakening in league one next season, I’d say that he would be a rather sensible addition to a league one squad as he seems to be already performing pretty well in that league. And has a history of doing so. Certainly does a little more than just ‘waving his arms around’.
Which is more than can be said for Romeny. Woo. Dembele. And a few other wingers.

Is Romeny even a winger I don't think so .. as for Woo who knows if he's any good he hasn't been given a chance to show us ... MPH can leave Placeta will be gone and dembele is he even still here does he still exist

Dale was a very effective signing for us in League 1 and I think he contributed a lot to our promotion season. He also tried really hard all the time. He's got a fantastic attitude and must be a managers dream from that perspective, so I can see why people like him.

But let's not pretend he was always effective on the pitch, especially at Championship level. There are quite a few League 1 full backs who are quick enough to stop him going past them, let alone at this level where everyone is quick.

He’s not a good winger. But he’s been played on the wing quite a bit when coming on. Hence my point about dale surely being a better option to some of what we currently have.

I wouldn't be in a rush to right off Jin Woo or Romney in league 1. Jin Woo has barely played for us, looked technically decent and hard working and likely to be better in a team that has more of the ball (though haven't seen enough to come to any firm conclusions). Romney is one of our most technically gifted players, but was physically completely out of his depth in the Championship where he was given little time and space. However was our most effective attacking player against MK Dons in the cup this year (who will be in league 1 next season) which suggests to me might thrive in a league where players have more space.

No way is Owen Dale a championship player, decent league one player, but you would like to think we can attract his standard anyway.
Who?
Other than mills, we don’t have a wide player at the club that has been as effective as Dale was in our promotion season.
And before you point out that we’re now in a higher league, I know that. But nobody stands out being as particularly better than Dale.

Hold on Dale wasn’t used that much he started a few games and made appearances as sub but with Murphy in the kind of form he was in he didn’t get much game time
One thing I will say he showed 100% commitment every time he came on the pitch

Massive difference between L1 and Championship. Emakhu looked more dangerous in 15 minutes at Derby than Dale ever did. Wingers are supposed to be game changers and Placheta could affect a game way more than Dale could, Mills unquestionably can. Dale was honest and workmanlike but way short on quality.

1 goal and a couple of assists against under 21 teams doesnt sound like what we need. From what ive seen on you tube from Plymouth fans he was pretty dreadful (as were Plymouth) for the first half of the season and out the team for long periods. Its only since Christmas he has got more game time and better reviews.

We have moved on and should be targeting better but I loved him when he was here.

Do you seriously not think that the likes of MPH, Emakhu and Placheta would be effective in League One? Do you think Dale would have torn it up in the Championship?

His stats do not make it look like he is a top league one winger to me
