A lot of players coming to the end of their contracts. We need to know about the squad cap right now, don't we?

We need to offer Gorrin and Sykes more than a year or they'll be off.

Are these numbers unusually high because of the pandemic/financial situation of all clubs, or is this about usual for League One clubs? Burton facing losing 14 under-contract players in a few weeks seems mental!

Presumably some of them are in the process of agreeing new contracts? But the numbers look very high. We normally see shorter lists of released players a bit later, which is people definitely not getting new contracts.

Well they might well offer him a new contract?
That we’re nearly in May and he hasn’t signed on for next season seems mad. Even if they do want to keep him, he’s been able to discuss terms with other clubs for some time. Perhaps he’s ‘doing a Nelson’ and fancies sizing up whether a freebie in the summer might be quite lucrative. Surely they can’t be open to him moving on for nowt? Will be a cracking freebie for someone if he were to go, either way. Very, very good player at this level. Also in his prime at 27 - the next three years will be the best of his career.

I imagine he's waiting to see what league Charlton are in - could also be what's happening with Ruffs and us. They might be waiting to ask for a more Championship level contract at the same club or because they will leave if the club doesn't go up, or perhaps they have an offer from a Championship club if they don't go up. I agree he's a great player and wouldn't be opposed to us sending a cheeky contract offer to him.
