Also, for those of us that rejoice in obscure, non-traditional football nations making their way to the World Cup.....

......let's all raise a glass to Uzbekistan, 2026 World Cup debutants! I look forward to watching them in action if they get a game in Philly or NJ!

(and Jordan will join them, also for the first time, if Iraq don't beat South Korea this evening)
Hmmmm, if your government actually lets them in!

Summertown Stars have gone downhill since you left.
That's the biggest compliment I've ever received!💛😂
Might have to print this off and frame it. Could hang it on the wall next to the photo I've just found of me grinning from ear to ear on my 8th birthday while donning my 1st ever OUFC kit present 😁

My first job after uni was working in a PR agency. They had Peter Beardsley come for some photo-op and I got him to sign a bit of paper which said “Your football skills are impressive. You will dominate football for years to come".

Interestingly he arrived for the photoshoot by bus which made me like him a lot.

Peter Beardsley and photo-op are not words commonly heard in the same sentence.

If it wasn’t obvious already, football in Indonesia is on the way up. The new World Cup qualifying means that Indonesia have a real chance.

From an Oxford United perspective that can only be a good thing and it’s become obvious that by playing out part (looking after two of their best players) that we stand to benefit from the countries footballing success.

Whatever you think of it. However new a concept. However different. Let’s get behind it for the good of OUFC.

Romeny is still a bit of an enigma to me, he’s looked good for Indonesia but the only time I’ve really seen him play effectively was as a striker against Coventry, when he was great. I’m not sure why he hasn’t been used there more, as he doesn’t seem to work as a ‘number 10’, whatever that’s supposed to mean for us.

He's still 2.9 million followers behind Marselino!

I read lot comments regarding Ole and Lino performances in OUFC in some posts in this forum. Don't want to make any reply because IMO everyone have their own opinions and i respect that.

IMO it coming back to 'trust', as we can see Ole and Lino performances for Indonesian National team are good. Why ? Previous Manager ( Shin Tae Yong ) and current manager ( Kluivert ) are alredy having 'Trust' to them, so they will use them as Key players in their strategies. I don't say GR have 'Trust'issue with them. Maybe someday if they can gain GR 'Trust' the situation could be different.

Another differential, Ole have exclusive interview with Voetbalzone regarding his decision and debut with Indonesia.

The important points from that interview :

Kluivert's experience as a striker has helped him understand the specific needs of players like Romeny, allowing him to coach Romeny effectively. But what Ole appreciate most : Kluivert emphasizes giving strikers the freedom to play and be creative.

Same stories with Lino, he also got that, more freedom and creativity

So no wonder both performances are different when they play for OUFC and for Indonesian National team. They are more effective and dangerous when playing for Indonesia because they got more freedom and most important got 'Trust' from manager.

Once again for avoid long debate, it just my opinion as football fans who watched their performances in OUFC and Indonesian National Team. Not because i am Indonesian. But that's all i see so far.

And each manager have their own style, strategies, fav players, etc. So not because GR doesn't 'Trust' them. Maybe not yet. IMO if a manager already have 'Trust' to players, they will play more relax and effectives.

I used ' ' when wrote Trust because it was something hard to describe but not only in Football, it could happen in many team sports....once a manager have 'Trust' to any players...it could make a big different.

Fun Fact :

LOL...new commercial campaign from Oxford boys....El Skena and Starboy in Coffee Core 😁

( FYI...this coffee product is leader in Indonesian market. They took 60% market share in Indonesia that have huge populations. So using famous National football players as their brand's ambassador is a very smart decision for strengthen their market power )

Ole got nickname from Indonesian Football fans as El Skena ( slang term in Youth Indonesian Netizen, mean Having a good taste of fashion, fashionable ) , while Starboy is nickname for Lino.

You are famous National Football Player, have million followers, products will come to you and endorse you. When Indonesian team have Home match, it will be the perfect times to shoot the commercial advertising. During players free times, so it won't violate the rules.

Well...hope OUFC can take advantages from this situation and involve in some commercials, it will be additional funds for the club. There's a chances for this, if OUFC's marketing team could utilize the opportunities.

Well...no excuse...Japan far far above Indonesia. And the team still drunk on victory on last match, and still drunk because through to round 4. Hope the results could make them back to earth again.

Although in the end we got our target since the beginning of this qualification, still lot things to do.

Let this became a good lesson, learn and walk on. Good or bad results we must accept and always stay behind the team.
