National News Official 2019 General Election Thread

Recent polling in Scotland on stay/go was 56 to 44 for staying - it's not as simple as it was a year or two back. Plus, the SNP, as seen recently in interviews, still lack some detail on stuff like debt and joining the EU.

The tories didnt win, labour lost. They lost because of:
1 Momentum, bitter and twisted group (see yellow taxi), the tail wagged the dog.
2 Brexit, labour ignored what their core vote wanted to keep their loony membership happy.
3 Corbyn, he isnt a leader, always been a protester. Spent years supporting "causes" and being the victim, after decades campaigning against the EU he flipped sides to stay a protester. Comes across as uninspiring and depressing, champagne socialist millionaire hypocrite.
4 Racism, see 1 and 3.
5 It rained......

Labour need to change and change fast. They will also need Boris to f**k it up if they have any hope of becoming a force again.

Some vile bad losing Tweets and Facebook posts.

Still cannot accept EU Ref and Election results!

As Boris said, hopefully that guy with the megaphone will stop!
I was watching twitter last night and it was embarrassing reading - it seems there a vocal minority whose view of democracy is it's their view over everyone elses. This election is a very harsh reality of hashtags and rallies doesn't win you elections

The Tory manifesto, as I pointed out, was a case of not messing up rather than over promising the world as it was all they needed to do. They knew how unpopular Jezza the Red is

You would think Liberal humans would be liberal and accept a defeat! Clearly not!

Marvellous thing, hindsight. ?

There would have been either way. That's a fact.

Happily it's a minority, use the platform to shout them down.

And finally, before I do some work.

Expect to see some electoral change in terms of seat numbers and by gosh, the likes of Ian Lavery don't get it. He's just blustered on the BBC, clearly reinforcing the Islington bubble the Labour party exist in.

I may stay awake long enough for the combined BBC/ITV/Mori exit poll thing that usually seems to call it about right.....................

#backBoris ? ?

Worked well that did. ?

Of course we are now getting "Ah yes but only 47% backed the Tories/Brexit Party......"

That is not how our political system works, you lost.

Almost role reversal of the SNP in Scotland who rejoice at so many seats.................................... but get defeated at referendums because the Unionist vote combines.

#fiveyears #backBoris #Peoplesparliament ?(y)(y)

I'd throw in Labour's disregard of their core seats. Corbyn had his front bench filled with Starmer, Abbott, Thornberry etc. So London-centric.

For the next election, they need to go back and appeal to those that can win them elections - Scotland, the midlands, the north and Wales. London will look after itself and most cities will too. The towns are were they lost out.
