General Notable Oxford fans

Also are any of the posters here secretly celebs? I’ve often wondered whether George Elek is in here (think he is brilliant by the way). Robyn Cowan and Jerome Sale must read the forum. Robyn has just had a baby which is great news. Both also brilliant (I mean Robyn and Jerome although I’m sure the baby is lovely too).

I’ve often wondered if @bashamwonderland might be Timmy Mallet.
Micha Glenny, author of McMafia among others and husband of Kirsty Waugh, posts as MG, so not really anonymous.

He doesn’t post much though, but he has been a fan for a long time.

Also, Fat Andy is and was a different person from Dominik Diamond's mate Sad Andy*. There has been some confusion from @chuckbert further up the thread. DD used to attend home games semi-regularly in the mid-90s, but always as a second club to Celtic - the trip to Oxford was easier than Glasgow on a Saturday when he lived and worked in London.

*I used to know them both so I must be notable
Fair enough. I have been under the misapprehension that they were the same ever since FA used to post on (whatever forum it was at the time).

Mischa Glenny is married to Kirsty Waugh? MG is certainly a notably articulate poster.

I've met Timmy Mallett and he didn't mention immigrants so I'm not sure it's him

I'm Robert, I probably owe you a birthday card or two.

Edit: maybe if I'd been a better father....
I knew you were still alive.......it was all a charade.

George Elek posts on here, a fairly well known poster too.

I worked it out sometime ago, I won’t say who it is in case he’d rather remain anonymous.
Oooh interesting. I'll have a think about who it could be. Where does he stand on Sam Long?

I think he thinks he should be doing more to help the atmosphere in the East Stand and make more of an effort to protest the potential lack of street lighting in Oxford between 1am and 5am.

Combining a few threads there.

Tim Henman isn’t an OUFC fan.
I mean, he may not be a regular at matches, but I don't think he'd make it up to look popular:

"The former British number and four-time Wimbledon semi-finalist is a lifelong Oxford United fan, and displayed his own football prowess during this summer's World Cup Copa-uppy challenge - managing an impressive 92 keepy-uppies with a tennis ball."

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2009/jun/19/tim-henman-small-talk-interview

"I'm Oxford United."

"Away from tennis Tim supports Oxford United Football Club."

"As a youth, Henman played football (supports Oxford United Football Club)"

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/henman-don-t-call-me-tiger-6340623.html

"He does follow England's football fortunes, finding time during the French Open to visit a British pub in Paris showing a live match, and he looks out for the results of Oxford United, his home-town team, although his father is more of a fan.

Henman lives in Barnes but shows no signs of joining the Fulham bandwagon despite their magnificent form in Division One under Jean Tigana - "I only know one of their players and who owns the club!"

Etc, etc over many years. I'm not sure why people are keen to deny it but I think we should just accept that Tim Henman is, to whatever extent, a Yellow.

That's not bad but I would say Michaela Strachan is our best celebrity fan - she is a genuine yellow (was at Wembley) and just seems like an all round good egg. Proud to have her on our books.

I am Ghislane Maxwell which is why I've been posting less recently. I only get 30 minutes wifi access each day. It was Jeffrey's fault, I was led astray.
Question I've always been meaning to ask you..... was it true about George Lawrence?! :ROFLMAO:

I counter all that with the fact he wore a Wimbledon FC shirt on Sports Personality of the Year for a penalty shoot out many years ago. Any OUFC fan of any real standing would have insisted on wearing our shirt.

I also don’t recall seeing him at a game ever. He is not a ‘fan’ imho.

Henman's Dad (Tony) died earlier this year. Was an Oxford solicitor for many years and played as an amateur for Headington United Reserves in the late 1950's. I played 5 a side against him a few times in the early 80's. He was still extremely fit, and was very vocal! I don't think Tim is a fan as such but looks out for our results etc.

That's not remotely notable.

That's just 'unremarkable middle-aged man who may at some stage have been to some Oxford United games, and also has a job'.
I already changed the thread title from "celebrity" to "notable". Do I have to change it again ?
It's basically any article or news that mentions someone being a fan, season ticket holder, or going to a game.
