Norwich v Derby and Sheffield United v Pompey

Nice of Norwich to pick this game to have a duff one. By the comments Derby played well though but a stupid challenge by the Norwich player to give away a penalty.

Oh, a blast from the past as it appears Henry Landers scored for Leamington.

The Youth team beat Cheltenham 9-0 at home earlier in their Lg game.

Two very very tricky games coming up for us, we can’t afford to lose either one of these ,otherwise we are right back in relegation trouble

I think 3 points from these two would be okay, points would've been taken off one of them at least that way.

You might want to read this very thread…
Did anybody suggest that we would 'beat Bristol City easily ?' I genuinely didn't see anybody suggest that.
Also has anybody suggested that no teams at the bottom will get points?
The bottom 5 have more points than games played , but they are likely to get a point a game on average unless they really pick up?

That is simply not true.
If we lose these two games, you are right mathematically we are not in the relegation zone, but we then have WBA away Coventry home Norwich away and I think it will be difficult to get anything at those two away games
So we have to win against whoever we play at home because our away form is not great.
All of a sudden at the end of Feb we could be 3 points off relegation rather than 10 so let’s not get over confident

So Derby narrow the gap on us by a point. It’s the height of arrogance to think that sides like that won’t ever get results, or that we’ll easily beat sides like Bristol City.

No reason why other clubs won't get results. Equally, absolutely no reason why we won't too.

You previously spoke about it being ridiculous to talk about the playoffs (something I don't think anyone has seriously suggested!). Yet the gap between us and 6th place is smaller than the gap between us and 22nd. If we can not make up 8 points on those above us, why is it arrogant to dismiss the likes of Derby, Luton or Plymouth to do the same or more to us?

Why are you so relentlessly negative? (Perhaps you consider it being pragmatic, but I think the original Aldo probably had a rather more positive attitude). If we lose the Derby and Pompey games, if we don't get anything from the WBA and Norwich away games, all of a sudden we could be 3 points off relegation. Scenarios that might come about - I don't think they will - but how about a spot of 'half glass full' for a change?

At the moment, lose these and WBA the next game and we are right back in the mix.
If we win both of these games will you talk about us being in a battle to reach the playoffs offs in the same way you would talk about us being in a relegation battle if we lose both?

You'll get 24/1 on two away wins, or 16/1 on two draws. Safe to say that neither team should be closing the gap on us today
And yet one of them in fact did close the gap on us today.

I don’t for a minute think that Derby will overtake us, but there was always a good chance that today would see the gap closing slightly (sorry if that’s too realistic/negative)

4 from 6 points this week and the gap gets further away.from.the bottom three .
Lots to be positive about we've lost 1 in 10 recently.
The negative trolling this week has been a little depressing .
Oxford are heading towards a decent points tally and hopefully a 13 to 15 league place finish .

Of course there's always a chance, but it wasn't a "good" chance in the view of the bookies with both games having the home sides as heavy favourites.

Yes Derby picked up a point, and they're all valuable. But I see that as them closing the gap on Hull and Pompey rather than impacting us a huge amount. For Derby that is still only one point from the last 24 available, and Pompey have just lost their 7th away game in a row, and they only have 2 away points from the last 30 available.

If you can't be confident about these next two games, then you probably need to wait until the annual pre-season game against Oxford City before you can relax!

I arrogantly want 6 points, but everything else you say is spot on.

Hope you are right, but I’m being realistic here.
We are not great away, Derby will be buoyed up I can see a 1-0 defeat.
Pompey deserved something today and were unlucky . Our usual score against them is 1-1 so then we could be 5 without a win
It annoys me that people think we are safe already when we certainly aren’t
