I know you're being facetious, but that isn't actually an unreasonable position for someone to take.

If, when desperate for a striker or two, we signed someone on big money (loan fees, wages), needing an immediate impact, and it turned out that player had an existing hernia issue and was unlikely to be much use for a year - that's a bad signing.

But once that signing has been made, and you have made that commitment (turning it into a permanent, no less) you surely have to see if (post-surgery) that player realises the value you have invested in them - to get you promoted and/or to sell at a profit.

We have signed an unfit player, got him fit (playing the long game) and then immediately sold him at a loss.

So actually, what you have framed as some sort of inconsistency is actually a perfectly normal way to look at what has been the most baffling signing (all things considered) of the last two years.
 
It is stupid what we did with prelec he would have been a monster in league one. It was there in the champ you could see he had the strength and the football brain..

Who knows what is going on with the club and why they are making these stupid decisions.

I get we needed some money, but we got him fit and now we sit back with Harris who can't hit a barn door and GOD who is relatively unproven ant this level. It's madness.

The club needs to give their head a wobble. I would have rather quite few left before prelec. I was really looking forward to seeing him play this season and he is our biggest loss of the window even though he did little for us on the pitch. But he didn't play that often when he was fit. Disappointed.

There is is something seemingly in the background where we can't get the best out of some players even before the Embargo.

Yeah, I'm not talking about the injury.

I'm talking about people saying he was never good enough for Oxford, and yet now we're keeping a tally of how many he's scored at his next club.

I always rated him - he looked different gravy when he came on for us debut against Brighton, and had some attributes we've desperately need, as highlighted by other posters.

And yes, I was being facetious but it was more about how quick some people are to leap to judgement and write off players who are actually pretty decent. Almost like, sometimes, players don't hit the ground running and need time to settle, get over niggles, etc. before they start performing at their best.
 
For me similar to BDK. Never really settled (injury or not) and didn't really want to be here.
 
Another goal today.

I don't know much about the Polish top flight, but Opta has it as the 11th strongest league in the world (English Championship in 10th).

So Lankshear and Prelec have now scored seven League goals between them already this season at Championship (or comparable) level (ten goals between them including Europa League and League Cup).

How many will they need to score before there is a collective recalibration of last season's expectations and people start to wonder if we did, after all, have more than enough firepower to stay up?

The problem was never really lack of firepower. The problem was chance creation.

Don’t know what you were watching then. Always looked off the pace to me, never really looked comfortable. Had the odd decent 20 minutes off the bench, especially early on, but latterly he was very poor. OK, we weren’t creating countless chances for him but there were enough balls going in that box for a player of his physicality to make more of than he did.
