Ex-Player Thread Nik Prelec

I can see Prelec bullying a lot of L1 defenders next season...if he can get properly fit and stay that way.
What I also like about Prelec is how he can hold up the ball well and bring others into play so against l1 defences I think he will frighten them

Another one from the "If he stays fit, then..." camp. Every season we try it somehow, every season it doesn't succeed. With the added caveat that the failure seemingly becomes more expensive each time.

Fingers crossed for him, of course. Might be a great player for us...

Bit of a paradox this, as arguably our two most important individuals from the last three seasons, Josh Murphy and Cam Brannagan, sit firmly in the camp.

That's a shame. Just 25 appearances. Was he sold at a loss? However... This will bring down the wage bill.

If there’s one thing that sums up our transfer business in recent years, it’s this. We signed a striker on loan with an obligation to buy for £1 million if we avoided relegation, then made the move permanent in February while he was injured, had scored just one goal, and before we even knew whether we would stay up! Meaning the obligation may never have been triggered in the first place. Fast forward to July, and we’ve sold him on, seemingly at a loss, or at best for roughly what we paid.

Despite the embargo news, this is officially the point where I've become worried about our chances in League One this season. With Prelec as an option thought things were a bit fragile - with Harris and the backups only I think we're in trouble.

Gone!

We can confirm Nik Prelec has departed on a permanent deal to join Polish side Jagiellonia Bialystok.
The Slovenian striker joined the Club in the summer of 2025, scoring one goal over 25 appearances.

Another absolutely idiotic signing that has cost us a lot of money for virtually no return. We really do have a penchant for signing duds.
Hopefully we have at least got something for him!!

What happens if Cardiff come in for Harris? Presumably we will playing a lone striker of GOD up front.

Well that’s the first departure, the question is how many more, I’d be surprised if there’s not at least a few more. Seems like Romeny is leaving too, so that leaves Harris as our main striker, not looking good at all. A chance for some of our youth players to step up to the 1st team and prove themselves!!!

This whole business is a gamble of smaller or greater odds and it's the pool we were fishing in- you could argue that if you pay peanuts you get peanuts with the occasional gem. Imagine if we'd paid £10m for Kyle Joseph and managed to offload him for just £4m - he could have been worth the £2-3 a season for the time he was there of course but this is the reality sometimes imo.

Another flop of a big money signing, effectively came here to spend the best part of a year recovering from a hernia problem on our dime.

This one wasn't thrust upon the recruitment team because of his Indonesian heritage, so I presume this is yet another that goes in the 'crap recruitment but no fault assigned' pile?

Getting quite large isn't it?

Once they stop laughing, the club would have to turn Cardiff down. He’s under contract and won’t be worth much. I can’t believe I now actually want him to stay - shows how desperate our attacking options are.

You think he wants to stay given the shoddy way he has been treated

Well he has done a terrible job of leaving so far? We have a new manager who isn’t to blame for how it went with him last season so hopefully he will be fine.

Hows he been treated badly? A league one level player not quite up to the standard of the championship replaced by a championship standard player in currie we had players in the squad who could cover who are better(spencer) so was left out the squad numbers leaving one space just in case we needed to cover another area

Sorry but as you say we have championship players then how come we got relegated? G L at least scored goals not bad for a defensive player but he is not afraid to run at defences either !
