FA Cup Newport v Leicester

Yes Newport are playing very well and Leicesterare below par so a good game.
It's been helped by Newports early goal. Is Vardy not even on the bench?

Blimey! Decent game and a grandstand finish... 5 min + time added left yet too

Deserved Newport win....higher league managers/coaches who disrespect the fa cup & lower league opposition deserve all they get

Newports gaffer wringing every last drop from his team. Tactically spot on and the set piece practice was clear.

Isn't Wayne hatswell involved at Newport?

You wonder why Leicester rested so many, not going down and not going to make the top six. If any club can realise long shots can win trophies occasionally you would hope it was them.

Fair play to Newport, got the tactics right, kept there shape and grafted, proper cup tie in that respect.

Absolutely agreed.

I can just about understand why the teams at the top, and those in the middle of a relegation scrap, rest players for the third round of the cup. The riches on offer for getting into the CL/staying in the PL are just too vast.

But for teams like Leicester safely in the middle of the pack, but not going anywhere - the FA Cup is surely the only opportunity to give the fans something meaningful to play for in the season's second half. Why the hell wouldn't you go for it?

Leicester were 7th. They will not go down.
They should be one of 7 to 8 teams who are pretty safe going for it and trying to win a trophy.
Some of the PLclubs treat the FACup with disdain.
I note that Man City put out a pretty strong team v Rotherham however.

Give Wolves some credit.

Played their best team (rotated a bit - but only from within their usual sixteen, and consistent with what they do on a Premiership game-by-game basis). Beat the Premier League leaders.

They know they're staying up, and so they're going all out for some FA Cup glory this year. Exactly what they should do for their fans and for the club in general.

I still say give the FA Cup winners a CL spot, that will give the Cup the respect back that it deserves.

Nothing would change it would be the same as now with the stronger team put out for the semi and beyond

Disagree. Take away the 4th place spot and give that the cup winners and the attitude will change overnight.
