Two things that stand out from these predictably negative diatribes:
1 - The lengthy and wordy CPRE Travel Plan analysis appears to use the current percentage of car users at The Kassam Stadium as its baseline, completely omitting that a railway station is next to The Triangle. It furthermore attempts to disprove that supporters will use P&R from the various sites around the city, because they don't use it currently, again conveniently forgetting that there are no P&R buses running to The Kassam Stadium, whereas it will be a central part of the new Travel Plan.
2 - The summary that follows the above, which waffles on about Stratfield Brake in 1936, has the punchline at the end. It is signed by John Hill. This is the guy who spoke very negatively about the club, the stadium, and the fans at the very first OCC public meeting.
The reality is that although these groups (CPRE, FOSB, CDW etc) have lofty titles and appear to speak as quasi official bodies, they are in fact a small number of self important people, and it is the same few names that keep cropping up time after time. Their opinions should carry no more weight than the average man in the street, but sadly for us it appears that they are taken more seriously because they call themselves by a fancy name. British classism is alive and well, and lives in the Oxfordshire (anti) planning process.
